Clerical Marriages.

In the Protestant Episcopal Diocesan Convention at Troy, N. Y., Bishop Doane, in his address, astonished his young clergymen by an exhortation against early clerical marr ages. He is of opinion that such marriages impair the usefulness of clergymen by distracting their attention during a period when concentration of mind upon the details of their religious charge is most needful. He also condemned them as encouraging an injudicious ambition for higher stations than the experience and capacity of the young husbands will warrant, in order to apply the emoluments to the support of their families. The same subject has also been mooted in the Commencement exercises of some of the melical colleges.
