American Coal in Europe.

The rumor that an Italian firm were negotiating in the United States for an immediate supply of 100,000 tons of coal, in place of obtaining it from England, as heretofore, has caused uneasiness in London. A cargo of American coal reached the Mediterranean sixteen months ago, and met with a ready sale, and more than twenty cargoes have been sent over since that time.
