Mrs. Dau. B. Miller is on a visit to Remington. In consequence Dan has been “batching” it for a week. Last evening his supply of bread run out, this morning he tried his hand at preparing and halving buckwheat cakes, and at noon, to-day, he streaked it past our our office in the direction of father Cotton’s boarding house, the bluest looking chap in Rensselaer. This is the way the Thomuston (Me.) Herald refers to an event of consul erable interest to Mr. and Mrs.. Gleason: "The angel of mercy has filled the cradle or Mr and Mrs. Moses (Heasou this week.” Which reminds us that this same “angel of mercy” has gladdened the hearts of Mr. and Mrs. Mervin O. Ciss*d this week with a ten pound girl. Marr. is already engaged iu training its “bungs.” John Sherman, who- is evidently under the impression that he is the government, has notified Mr. Glover that heieafter he will not be permitted to- continue his search in the Treasuiy Department for the purpose of trapping rudical rascals who have robbed the people. Sherman evidently knows of crookedness and is determined that Glover shall not find it out. It is on record that radical officials etole to the amount of SIOO,000,000 annually for thirteen consecutive years, and this amount, as large a* it is, does not iu all probability represent the half of radical robberies. Congress wiil have to discipline John Sherman.

Fendig, lines, Lowraan (the Narrow Gauge), aud others who use our columns, do not compiain so es hard times, and laugh at thase who think they save money by refusing to advertise.
