A Cool Lad. — A 14-year-old boy, in Huston towuship, Centre county. Pa., in company with another lad, the former carrying an old shot gun, while driving cows from pasture, espied au animal UDon a tree, which he covered with Ills gun and attempted to fire, but the weapon refused to go off. He then calmly seated himself beneath t etree, cleaned cut the tube, filled it with powder and fired. The load struck the beast in the forehead, but it did not fall to the ground, being p rched in such a way that it could uot be dislodged. The curiosity of the boy induced him to climb the tree to ascertain what he had shot, whereupon he discovered it to be a large catamount.
