BLUE RIBBON MEETING.
Bruce s School House, Marion ) Township, June 23. 1878. \ Editor Sentinel : At the request of some of our citizens, parties from Rensselaer came over to-day to assist us in the organization of a Blue Ribbon Society. Notwithstanding the meeting for that purpose had not been sufficiently advertised to draw a large audience, yet there were tn attendance as many as the school house could comfortably exercises were conducted by Rider D. J. Huston, assisted by the visiting brothers from Rensselaer, Ira W. Yeoman, acting as President, and Wewt. A. Imes, as Secretary. Che following was the programme: Ist.—Singing, 2d—-Remarks on the objects of the meeting, by various persons. 3d Singing and signing the pledge. ihe secretary reported that fiftyone persons had signed the pledge and pinned on the Blue Ribbon. Next in order was the organization of the society. On motion, John M. Wasson was elected President, | John Daugherty Vice President, I. J, Porter, Secretary
Miss Lizzie Huston, Assistant Secretary, and Mrs. John M. Wassou, Treasurer.
