At the Democratic Township Convention held in the Court House on last Saturday, Ben. Tuteur, T. J. McCoy. F. L. Coton, Henry Luers, Jasper Kenton, Jacob Doty, and A K. Yeoman, were selected as delegates, and Ralph Fendig, C. B. Stewart, D. B. Miller, Stephen Nowels, Patrick Donnelly, B. F. Shields and Dallas Nowels, alternates, to the CountyjConvention to be held in Rensselaer on Saturday O- next week. The meeting was well attended, and in response to a call addressed by J. W. Douthit, Esq., in a few appropriate remarks.

The glass coffin factory at Orrville, Ohio, has now been in operation about four months and orders are corning in so rapidly that the buildings are not large enough to accommodate the demand. An old hen on the farm of the Messrs. Dysart., Tipton, Huntingdon eoanty, Pa., has almost every day for a month perched herself on the limb of a tree and dropped an egg. Charlie Hopkins is again in the field as a candidate for jobs of painting, paper-hanging, kaisonuning, &c., and although he is credited by the Union as tunning a “bankrupt convention,” ho will be able to prove, by honest work and low prices, that he is not a “bankrupt” workman. Comer Viewers in said cause to view said proposed Ditch, and to perform certain duties in said order named and to do and perform all other necessary acts and services as such viewers uud to file their report with the County Auditor: And whereas said viewers have made their view of the said proposed work, and after having subscribed and sworn to the same have filed their report with the undersigned County Auditor of said county of Jasper: Therefore, Notice is hereby given of the pendency ahd prayer of said petition, and the filing of said viewers’ report thereon, and that the time sot for the hearing thereof is oil Monday the 2d dnv of September, 1878, the same being the Ist dav* of the September, term, 1878. Said proposed Ditch is described as follows, towit: Commencing at the northwest corner of the southwest quarter of the southwest quarter of section thirty-six (30), in town thirty-two (82) north of range seven (7) west; thence north fifty-seven (57) degrees west 4,710 feet to a point at or near the north- west corner of the southeast quarter of thethe north-west quarter of section thirty-five (.35), town and rauge aforesaid; thence north2sdegrees west79ofeet; thence north' 21 degrees east 3,600 feet; thence north 42 degrees east 1,236 feet; thence north 42 degrees west 2.2-11 feet ; thence west on the section line between sections 23 and 26 town and range aforesaid 1.013 feet, thence nortli 124 deg.ees west 528 feet; thence south 85 degrees west 1,913 feet; thence north 26 degrees west along the line of an old ditch 1,539 fe.-t; thence north 66 degrees west 4)oofeet and terminating at a point about 35 rods north, 4 1 degrees west of the south-east cornef of the northeast quarter of section ill, town and range aforesaid.
