Let it be your valentine. The I. D. & C. RR. has brought in the first car load of goods, consisting of 55 barrels of Salt, for Mr. Kern. Mr. James Irkes and wife, of Remington, were visiting friends in Rensselaer on Monday. Go and price the new stock of Glass and Queensware at Kern’s, which are selling at “Narrow Gauge” prices. Mr. James Weathers, an old and respectad citizen of Rensselaer, died on Wednesday morning. Freight commence running over the new road the day fyllowing the completion of track-laying. Goods at the New Pork Store can be procured at the old ratss. No advance in prices. The Ratlroad hw reduced Monticello Flour at Kxrn’s Grocery tosl 70 a sack, being a reduction of 20c per sack. Leopold, always enterprising, is offering easy and special inducements to purchrsers of lots iu his addition to the Town of Rensselaer. Samuel F. Whiteside will sell, on the 13th, at his residence, two miles north of Rensselaer, a lot of stock, farming implements, household and kitchen furniture, etc. On Tuesday afternoon the cars passed up to the present terminus of the “Narrow Gauge”’mid sweet strains of music from the band and the cheers of the multitude gathered there.

It has not been closed, and from all we can learn no mercantile firm stands on fairer footing. There is no better place to stop at in Rensselaer than the Austin House, under the management of A. W Cleveland. The house has been thoroughly refitted and renovated, and is kept in excellent style.—Remington Time.
