To the People of Jasper County.
At a public meeting held in the court house in Rensselaer, Wednesday, February t>th, to take preliminary steps in regard to the Grand Barbecue to be held Thursday, February 14th, 1878, it was suggested that every person in Jasper county be invited to attend and bring with them baskets tilled with cooked provisions. It is impossible for the manager or committees to visit each several inhabitant of the county in person, hence it is hoped that all will consider this general publication of the action of the meeting sufficient for the purpose. No doubt, many friends of the railroao from abroad will honor the occasion with their presence, and it is hoped that the good people of Rensselaer and the county will see the necessity of acting upon the suggestion and provide with liberal hand the provision necessary for a grand feast. Come with baskets laden with what you msy conveniently prepare, snch as bread, butter, cakes, erulls, chickens, turkeys, pickets, boiled ham, etc., us auxiliaries to the roasted ox f .rnished by A. McCoy; also bring plates cups and saucers. It is expected that people in town will prepare coffee. A comru.ttee will receive and take charge of all provision bronght in, wloch should be delivered at the court house by 9o’cloek a. m. Names of the committee appear elsewhere in this paper in the official report of the proceedings of the meeting.
