Haymond, President of the Chicago & South Atlantic JhR. writes to a friend at this place, in a private letter dated Indianapolis, Jan 28. 1878: “I was at New York week before last in the Interest of the Port Royal Harbor enterprise, which I regard as one of the most •important on the continent. The company was organ ized on the 2d of the month in New York City, is strong, and composed of able and experienced men, and they ar* to be backed by English capital. The prospects of early operations and success are very flattering Besides this the company has other great objects in view, which will be made known as events progress. The early openiug of a through line from that harbor to the Northwest and other directions is exceedingly probable. The amount of road to be built is much less than usually supposed, and the importance of the movement has now become national.” Port Royal, South Carolina, will be the South-Atiantic terminus of the C. & 8. A. RR., of which the I. D. £ C. RR. now being built and running Kensselaer, will be an important link. Seth Thomas Clocks lor sole by Wigmore. Warranted 2 years. Cheap for easn.
