A continuance to next term of Circuit Ceurt was granted McCully, and in default of SIOOO bail he accompanied the Sheriff to Fowler last Monday, Silas Swain is talking of opening up a road through his place north of town to extend from the northern terminus of Forest Avenue to the Mon nett line. The real objection of Bro. Horace to the Diesent officers of the Agricultural & Mechanical Association is the fact that they refused to award him the printing for the last fair at fancy rates. Dr. Jackson cortemplates visiting Texas early in March next for the purpose of looking after property there for which he has traded, and with a view of finding a climate which will be more conducive to health. The Agricultural Association was more cf a sccess during the past year, wiih brother Jameß opposed to it, than It had been in previous years.with his good will. It may be for tho good of the Association to let him continue to fret, The smoke of the engine may be seen from the upper rooms of the highest buildings iu town. Dan Miller was so anxious to be the first to see the cars from Rensselaer, that on Wednesday he took his telescope to the roof of the Bedford & Jackson block, accomplished his purpose, and uow he is happy. President Lee came over last Wednesday. He speaks'in encouraging terms of the progress in raising the aubsidies in White county, but says the failure to carry the RR. election in Monon township, will increase the burdens of Monticello and Union township. He thinks the road will be ready tor business by February loth.
