Fourth of July.
JEREMIAH.
Is there such a day in the month of July to the people of Jasper county. We would answer—No! as there has been no preparation for the observing it: Will we let the names of the immortal Signers of the Declaration of Independence be hidden and lost behind the clouds of a few receding years? Have we fo.rgotten|those who founded and riveted together a nation that has been honored, loved and respected for over one hundred years? Are we to ignore the noble principles that they administered to the people? The celebration of the 4th of July is not any more to the memory of the dead, than it is to impress upon the minds of our children the circumstances and disadvantages under which our fathers sustained the grand old banner of justice, lreedom and right. Anse, ye Jasperites! and prepare your baskets with the product of the American soil, to celebrate the glorious birth-day of an independent natiion.
