Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Hess returned ast evening from Berue where they were visiting with relatives. Mrs. Robert Andrews returned last evening from Geneva where she was visiting with her daughter who is ill. Mrs. W. H. Nachtrieb entertained the Ladies Shakespeare club yesterday afternoon and the occasion was very delightful. The Sunday school teachers of the Reformed church will hold their weekly meeting this evening at the home of Mrs. Fred Heuer. A crowd of al>out thirty ladies gave Mrs. Fred Reppert, who recently moved into her new home on North 1 hird street, a very pleasant house warming last evening. Mrs. Jennie Studabaker left last evening for Los Angeles, California where she will enjoy the ’winter and spring among the flowers thus avoiding the bad season of Hoosierdom. Mrs. Hester A. Winans, who lives with J, F. Winans at Monroe ville, and an old Decatur resident, is seriously ill and reports say she can not live but a few hours. Her many friends here will regret to hear this information.

Charles Lose, Willis Fonrer and Charles Magley went to Portland today to attend the poultry show. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Young returned ito Columbia City last evening, while here they were the guests of relatives. Albert Bunch returned to Fort Wayne this morning. While here he was attending the funeral of his grandfather near Freidheim. T. L. Miller returned today from St. Louis where he was acting as a witness in a case against the CloveLeaf concerning a car of damaged peaches. The Ben Hur lodge will meet Fri day night at their lodge room. Business of special importance will be taken up and every member who can possibly do so is urged to attend. Dwight Jason Spuller, of St Louis, ia here, visiting Albert Spuller and other relatives. He was a former resident here, leaving here some twenty years ago. and this is his first visit since then leaving. He first went to Colorado, but is now living in St. Louis. The scenery was grand and the specialties were good. There were several strong characters in the company. Four Decatur youug men are ‘ east, iug up” a school cf learning, in which teiepraphy, stenography, drawing, etc., will be taught, and while it will lie somewhat compact at the beginning, the four “professors” 'have within them the required talent to add one story after another, until the school becomes a “sky-scraper.” with a Morse-Pittman-Gibson roof thereon Developments are awaited.
