Governor Hanly ha* >een invited to the races L.gansport admirers of speed have extended the invitation with the view of demonstrat ing ’ha fallacy of bookmaking for successful hors* racing. The presence of the governor will prove or disprove nothing. If racing is no good without gambling, it can not be very good with it. While it is premature and confessedly foolish to nominate candidates for president at this early stage, yet we assure the able and fearless Editor Stoll that nothing serious was intended by Mi. A CLEAN SHOW Ringling Bros, and Bailey Never Were It Some Facts of Interest About the Forepaußh A Sells Circus Which Shows Mere August Twelveth That the Forepaugh and bells Bros ’ circus is to be here soon is an assured fact, and one that the small boy will not likely forget. It is interesting to note, however, that it was but chance tbat made it possible for the show to com* here, indeed but chance tbat put it on the road at all this season. At the close of the show season last fall, Lewis bells, the last of the original Sells brothers, decided to retire from the circus business, and resolved to sell off bis entire show at public auction. The announcement of this intended move brought circus men, zoo keepers, and petty investors from all over the world, for Forepaugh and Sells had a manegerial collection and circus outfit which was the envy of many an ambitious show man. and wide awake zoo managers. When the d*y fiially arrive 1 f >r ths auction about two hundred men gath ered at the circus headquarters at Columbus, Ohio, anxiously awaiting the appearance of the auctioneer. Some were there to buy an elephant, perhaps a whole drove of them, others a hippopotamus or perhaps a royal Bengal. Some were present only to get a chance at the two hundred horses or a boa constrictor. Everythin g was to go from a train of care to a sacred cow, and the many there were anxiously awaiting for the sale to begin. Imaginj the disappointment when it was announced that the sale had been declared off Their disappointment was manifested by deep frowns, a volley of curses and cat calls hurled at the mail who made the announcement, that man being no other than James B. Bailey of Barnum and Bailey fame. Mr. Bailey, a showman of much fame and more wealth had some several. thousand in the Selle shows, being the heaviest stockholder, and when he saw that he could not buy it in at his Eownprice.be abandoned the idea of an auetkn sale. Otto Ringling, of the Ringling Bros ’ shows, was Mr Bailey s most formidable cp ponent, and it was due to his activity th«t the sale never occurred M Bailey and the Ringling Bros, took the show in together and it is now operated under their management. About >200,000 was expended in repairing the equipment and adding new features and the show is now

The suffering patient gets no ts'tter. but probably worse, I by reason of the delay, wrong treatment and consequent complications. A proper medicine like Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription, dlrccnd to the cause, would have entirely removed the disease, thereby dispelling all those distressing symptoms, and instituting comfort instead of pr<e longed misery. It has been well said that "a disease- known Is half cured." Lady’s Clipper root. Unicorn root, Golden Seal root and Rattleweed root, these Ingredients being macerated for a long time In a non-alcoholic menstruum. The exact working formula for ’ making these medicines cost Dr. Pierce and his collaborating Chemist and Pharmacist many years of study and experimental but as perfected they produce ' almost perfect pharmaceutical compounds emtxdying all the active, medl- ' cfnal principles residing in the ingredients employed. — Remember, these are the Wjjurre** ORIGINAL Little Liver Pills, Kwwiva **”’ put Ut) O,d |,r K- V. pierce, over 40 years ago. and altbo much Imitated, bare never tiein 'equaled. .Made of concentrated and refined | medicinal principles, extracted from native I American plants and roots, therefore purely vegetable and perfectly harmless.
