Here and there an indi vidual memler of the majority party in congress has lifted hi* voice feebly for retenchment, but it has carried a tone of doubt and usually of insincerity The country need not expect, therefore, as lomr as the republican party is left m uninternpted contr l of the government. to witness a serious attempt to exercise economy in any department of the public service. The people may as well begin get ting ready to pay more taxes with out receiving in return anv corresponding benefits. The complaint says that the defendant is incapable of managing her own estate, and asks that this caase he tried and a guardian appointed to care for her property. Mrs Magner was taken into custody a few days ago. and is now in jail here. The plaintiff is her son. Don’t Forget This.
