J. F. Kelly, of Geneva, made a visit here today. J. Coon made a l.usinese trip to Fort Wayne this morning. Dan Haley made a business trip to Fort Wayne last evening. A crowd of young folks drove to Hunter's lodge this morning, where they will spend the day. Rev J. 0. White went to Monroeville, last evening, to attend a meeting of the Epworth League. Tomorrow evening at the opera house will occur the anuai oommenoement execrises of the St. Joseph’s high school. Haefling and daughter, Catherine and JMiss Rose Voglewede went to Toledo, Ohio, today to make a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Uhl. Miss Francis Wilson, the young lady who has been in jail for sever al days, on a serious charge, was released today, her fine being paid by several of her gentleman friends. Herman Yager left this morning for Fort Wayne where he will armnge his furniture booth for the Orphan’s fair that opens tomorrow evening. He was accompanied by Misses May Berling and Eleanor Forbing, who will assist him. Rev. Martin of Bluffton, pastor of the Baptist church, will preach in this city next Thursday evening at the Baptist church. Rev. Mar tin comes heralde 1 as a fine talker and should be greeted by a good audience. All are invited to attend. The missionary society of the Baptist church will meet tomorrow at the home of Mrs Wilda Watts. Arthur Hall returned last evening from Findley, Ohio, where he was attending the funeral of his uncle. The infant child of Mr and Mrs. W. F Hilton, who reside near Wren, Ohio, was buried yesterday afternoon. Ulyaeeas 8. Drayer, of Altoona, Pa., is in the city, a guest of J. D. Steele, G. W. Zimmerman and I. W. Zimmerman. • Jacob Meyers Deacon Strayer and Charles Weller, of DeGraff, O , were in the city last evening, the guests of W. H. Fledderjohan. J. S. Peterson and family will go to Rome City tomorrow morning for several weeks’ cottage life. John will remain until Sunday and will then go to we*t Baden. He will resume his work at the Metropolitan office on Jnly 10. All members of the K. of P. lodge are requested to be present at the lodge room tomorrow evon ing as nominations will be in order for new officers. All are candidates and unless you are present you may lose your chance of getting elected.
Clarence Brewer, of Ada, Ohio, president of the Ada Telephone company, was in the city, last evening, consulting with W. H. Fledderjohan on telephone matters. He became interested in interurnan matters and took back with him a paper to circulate for the purpose of purchasing stock in this company. The Pathfinders Sox social last evening at the N. H. C. rooms, was a most decided success, both socially and financially, and a fine time was had the evening was spent in playing numerous game, while W. E. Smith and True Fristoe rendered some tine selections on the piano both being artiste. Should the local order contemplate another such event, they will be greeted by a much larger crowd. The Bachelor Maida met last evening with Miss Rose Conter on First street. Euchre for points was played, the first prizes being awarded to Misses Clara and Mayme Terveer. v«hile Misses Liz zie Hains and Mrs. Charles Voglewede won ths consolation prizes. Refreshments were served and the olub adjourned to meet next Wednesday evening with Miss B?rtha Voglewede. The Delphos, Ohio, Canning company team has been secured by the local management as an attraction at Steele’s park next Sunday. This team is a strong one, having only been defeated once this season, and should make the Rosenthals extend themselves to the limit to win. A large crowd should be in attendance. The local team has been playing the right kind of ball and desire your patronage.

A message from that place today says they are living high and every moment is one of pleasure James Kelley, who was arrested last evening by Marshal Green, on a charge of public intoxication, was arraigned before Msyor Cjffee this morning, plead guilty and was asseseu a fine of a dollar and costs. He was returned to jail, where he will board for ten days with tne sheriff. The Bon Ton club met last evening in regular social session with Miss Dude Voglewede and a fine time was reported. Whist was played, the prizes being won by Misses Edna ('rawford and Bertha Deininger and the boobies by 1 1 Misses Maude Chiisten an<l Anna Martin. A two course luncheon was served, after which the club went home, to meet next week with Miss Gertrude Radamacher. Dr. J. 8. Coverdale while leav ing his house this morning to go the barn to feed his horse, slipped on a wet board and fell, his head striking a piece of tile, cutting a gash several inches in length in his head. He came down street, but would not permit his surgeon to sew up the wound, but did consent to have it dressed to some extent. The injury will prove nothing serious. At the Majestic theatre Fort Wayne, seats are now on sale for the engagement Thursday uight, of E. H. Sothern and Julia Marlowe, whose joint appearance will be the notable Shakespearean event of years. They will be presented by Charles Frohman in a superb production of Romeo and Juliet, sup ported by a carefully selected company of more than 100 trained actors.
