Eli Sprunger retuned last evening from South Dikota. wh*re he had been for the past two months looking after horse business for Fnsinge-& Co., and looking over his farming interests in that part of the country. Briggs came up from Geneva this morning, and resumed work bis as a member of the board of review. The bans of marriage were pub. lished yesterday at St. Marvs church for Miss Edith Blossom and Mr Ansel Bremerkamj. All special street and sewer as cessment* were due at the city treasurer's office May 1. All those who have not paid will please do so at once. Interest is charged after May 1. W. J. Archbold, City Treasurer. 8. P. Beatty, of Omaha. Neb., was in the city yesterday, the guest of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Beatty. Simeon is at present with the Wells Fargo Express company, but expects in a short time to be transferred to St Paul, Minn. William Badders, who was ap pointed constable for Monroe by the esunty commissioners, has qualified and is now ready for any official business that may be placed in his hands He takes the place of Hazle Andrews, who resigned recently. Nolan King, who tiled a charge of assault and batery against M aynard France. Saturday, went before Mayor Coffee this morning and withdrew his charge, stating that be had been too hasty in his actions, and that France did no more than any one would have done under similar circumstances Tne mayor aoojrding tJ King's wishes, dismissed the case. A crowd of Decatur people yesterday drove to the country home of Mr. and Mrs Ed Zimmerman and were there treated to a go Ml, old fashioned country dinner, which all appreciated and speak in the highest terms as to the hospitality of the host and hostess Tnse present were Mr. and Mrs. R. Harry Des tn has donated a tine specimen of his ability as a fisherman to the adornment of the office of the Bliss House. It is a monster taipon which he caught in the Gulf of Mexico and with it are the line and rod on which the fish was caught. The tarpon measures five feet and eight inches in letigth and weighed 180 pounds. It is stuffed full, of exceilsior and don’t really weight that much now, but it did when it was caught—Bluffton News.
After June 15th Curryville will no longer be a atop for any of the trains on the Clover Leaf and the town will practically no longer make a spot on the map E. L. Carroll, of Decatur, has an elevator there and the Clover Leaf will no longer offer him side track facilities there, but have offered to transport his elevator free of charge to any point along their line, which he may designate. All efforts to secure a special train to Geneva for next Sunday were stopped tid ay when Agent Bryson received a letter from General Passenger Agent L ickwuod of the Grand Rwpid*, stating that the company could not see any profit in the run as the cost of motive power and the loss of cars for other use would far exceed the amount taken in, so those desiring to see the game next Sunday at Geneva will be forced to drive or stay at home
