Dr. Fred Patterson goes to Geneva Monday with a view of completing arrangements for the transfer of the dental jjarlors from Dr. Day to himself. Judge R. O. Johnson, of Douglas, Arizona, arrived this afternoon for a two or three months’ visit with old friends and relatives. He says it has been raining in Arizona for two months, an unprecedented incident in that country. Three hundred and ten is the number of mortgage exemptions tiled with Auditor Lewton. This is o insiderably less tha i half of the whole number that will be filed before the expiration of time allowed by law.

Flovd Leßrtin received a letter today from John Maxwell, owner of the Lima base ball team, requesting Floyd to report at Lima next week to go into practice work. Judd Banks arrived today ‘from Frankfort, and will spend Sunday with Fred Patterson. Mr. Banks is a schoolmate of Fred's at Indianapolis, and is quite a musician, having toured the country three seasons with Sousa's band. A joke was turned on Lase Ellie, the well known saloon keeper, of this city. He ordered a pair of pants of the Decatur Tailoring company. His friends pursuad"d the firm to make him peg tops, the consequence being that Lase has, been sporting his jieg tops all day, I and looks like a high school cadet. On First street this morning a number of the Schafer Hardware conqiany’s force engaged in the destruction by fire of the following property to-wit: One wheat drill, good as bad, one buggy, worse, one half of a phaeton, twenty years old with yellow stripes on dash board; one hay stuffed cushion and other antiquated articles too numerous t.j mention. Everyone present wa* i asked to enroll their nsme. and this record wi'l be kept for future reference. The exact number pres ent was 120, which is not half of the membership. Many pleasant speeches were made and all showed appreciation of the splendid features of the order, and our people are justly proud of the success of . Decatur Court, which now num I bers242 members. The lienefits of the families of deceased members have been tested. The work is in excellent condition and the prospects tor new members very en- ' couraging. An elegant banquet I was served and the committee in charge of the preparations and I serving deserves unlimited praise I for their excellent work. ’Squire Bailey, of Monroe, was a b isiness caller here today.
