Kuebler returned Saturday evening from New York, where he was buying goods for Kuebler & Moltz. Miss Marine Deininger went to Cleveland, Ohio, this morning, to trim hats in the Ret*! Bros., millinery store. The case of the state against Herman Mystram for embezzlement, was continued until Wednesday, September 31. — * St. Vincent De. Paul society will meet with with Mrs. Dyonis Smith on Wednesday instead of the fol lowing Wednesday, on account of the fair.

Miss Eleanor Forbing returned today from Fort Mayne, where she was visiting with friends. Miss Gertrude Moses returned this morning from Van Wert, where she spent Sunday with friends. Misses Edna Crawford and Maude Christen and Harry M'eiler spent Sunday with friends at Wilshire. Miss Taylor returned to Orbin, this morning, after being the guest of Mrs. Steele and Mrs. Jacob Hart. Miss Beverly arrived this morning from Knightstown, and is attending the teachers' institute. Mrs. M’oodward returned this morning to Logansport, after a visit here, the guest of Mrs. Knoff. Mrs. Horton and family, of Cincinnati, Ohio, are in our city, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. Brittson. The ' Rosenthal team will play at New Haven next Sunday, expecting to change their luck, hoping to not be mud-hens. Mrs. H. O. Bowserman entertained Misses Alice Hurtle, Nettie Smith, Jesse McLean, Celia Smith, of this city and Misses Ida O’Mara, Madge McCaudlish. Ola and Emma Hurtle, of Van M’ert, at dinner yesterday.
BACHELOR BOYS Fort Wayne Crowd Entertained by Decatur Ladies. MissMaytne Deininger entertained the Bachelor Maids of this city and the Bachelor Boys of Fort Wayne lust evening at her home on Madison street, and a fine time was had. Ihe evening was most enjoyably spent in playing pedro and other games. Music was furnished, both vocal and instrumental by members of the Fort Wayne club w hich was enjoyed by all. During the evening a three course luncheon was served. Those present from Fort Wayne who enjoyed the festivities were Messrs. Jerry O'Connor, George Deininger, Tom Quinn Oscar Huffman, Austmer Hiney, George Dewaid, Will Gehring and Charles Pilliod, of Piqua 1 Ohio. E. J. Bailey left this morning on his regular trip. The Odd Fellows are putting a new roof oi their lodge building. Harvey Harrnff made a business visit to Fort Wayne this morning. O. N. Snellen made a business visit to Fort Mayne this morning. Blanche Carrol and Jesse Sellemeyer visited Sunday with friends at Van M’ert.

Miss Aera Meyers, went to Berne today, to visit with friends. Fred Lehman went to Richmond today to see his wife who is confined in the insane asylum. Miss Ella Young returned to Geneva today, after being a guest hereof James R. Smith. 1 Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Hall went to Geneva today, to visit for a short time with relatives. Miss Flattie Barnett, of Montpelier, visited in our city today, and was enroute to Napoleon, Ohio.

I the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Adam I DetimCharles i’ubst received a message [Sunday morning from Fort Wayne announcing that the infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Thompson had died | Sunday morning at five o’clock. Mrs. Thompson is a sister to Mr. Yobst. Sam Chaska, the popular traveling man out of Fort Wayne, in a conversation today, while waiting for his train told how he became a I democrat. It was in 1867 and Sam I had just arrived in Cincinnati from the old country, and the United States was in the midst of a hot political campaign. Grant and Colfax and Seymour and Blaine being the opposing candidates, and the j occasion was being celebrated by a big rally by’ both parties, the democrats being dressed in flashy red ( uniform and the republicans in blue. Sam at once became attached to the rod and then and there declared himself as a democrat and 1 has always been such. t
