The next in order is the democratic national convention which is due in St. Lmis one week from next Wednesday. The death of six members of the Indiana senate since last election, and the fact that four of them are holdovers, puts elements of doubt in the Republican power to control that body, as considerably more than half of the members must be elected next November, and some of these in normally Democratic districts. This, with the supreme court’s knockout dealt to the extremely partisan legislative reapp<irtionment, does not leave the dominant party with the smooth sailing of the past several campaigns.—South Bend Times.
