Thirty seven employees of the Erie shops at Hun’ington were discharged last week and that too right in the midst of republican prosperity. The Alien county democracy have nominated their county ticket, the convention which was held Saturday being harmonious in the extreme. The convention was a fore runner of redeeming the ‘ one green spot” and getting back to i their old place of political impor- ( tance. At a meeting of the democratic j cani[»aign committee it was decided to hold a grand raly in this citv on Saturday, November 5, the Saturday preceeding the election- While no arrangements could be made for I speakers yet the committee is assured that a national character will honor the occasion as sjx-aker of the day.
