Henry Ashbaucher and family arrived Saturday evening from Marion, and expect to make this their future home. A beautiful entertainment was given at the United Brethren church last evening. Children's day was appropriately observed by songs and recitations. The choir also furnished excellent music.

Mrs. Charles Gerard went to Ft. Wayne this morning to visit with her sister. Mr. Jaberg left this morning for Angola, where he will enter Tri State normal school. M. F. Worthman went to Angola this morning, where he will enter the Tri-State normal school. Miss Daisy Haines arrived from Fort Wayne today, and will give her regular dance this evening. Jeff Bryson and R. K. Allison went to Winchester today, to attend the funeral of Mr. Hopkins. D.A. Williams returned to Kendalville this morning while here he was the guest of W. R. Neal. Miss Merryman returned this morning from Geneva where she spent Sunday with her sister. Rufus Stuckey returned this morning from Berne where he spent Sunday with his parents. Miss Midge Smith and Dossie Berry returned this morning from Portland where they were the guests of Miss Humpries. If you have not yet called at the Hubs removal sale you have missed some good bargains. They are selling clothing cheaper than was ever known in Decatur. Miss Luella Miller and Mr. E. A. Everett both of Detroit were married May 25th and are now at home in a cottage in that beautiful city. Miss Miller formerly taught in the Dceatur schools. Judge and Mrs. W. J. Vesey will leave tomorrow for Glendale, ()., to attend commencement exercises of Glendale college from which Miss Margaret Vesey is to graduate with valedictory honors. Mrs. A J. Annen left this morning for Pittsburg Pa. where he has secured a position as mail clerk on the Pennsylvnia railroad. Portland business men have organized a Commercial Club and propose to increase the population of their town several thousand. The commissioners of Wells county have employed experts to look up sequestered taxes and collect the same. C. W. Willman of Sullivan, Indiana, has the contract. There will be a meeting of the uniformed rank of the K. of P. this evening at the lodge rooms at eight o'clock to make arrangements for Decoration Day services on next Sunday afternoon at two o’clock. The beard of review mot this morning and organized, County Assessor Crist being made presiauditor Abe Boch secretary. The remaining members of the board are Treasurer Voglewede, Jesse Steele of St. Mary's township, and Henry Laukaman of this city. They began by making a list of exexemptions and far the next thirty days will be busy with the taxables of the county.

Miss Jennie Congleton arrived from Auburn Saturday night here she has been triming and will sjiend the summer with her mother. The couple are both well known and highly respected in that com rn unity. One of most enjoyable family rennnions took place yesterday at the ' hoin.i of Mr. and Mrs. William Scherer, one anil a half miles south lof Monroe in honor of Mrs. E. B. . Macy of Brownstown. A sumptuous dinner was served to which all did justice, and was one of those old fashioned kind, where nothing was missing. Among those who were privileged to partake of the hospitality of the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs Scherer were: Mrs. E. B. Macy and sons, Mrs. Ensley i Smith of Bryant; John J. Myers and family of Decatur, Misses Lizzie Scherer and Jessie Dickerson, IW. S Smith and <llil-1r». Z. O. Lewellen and wife of Monroe; and Paul Beardsley of Decatur. This is an annual ocourranoe at this home and is always looked forward to with much pleasure by those interested as they always have an enjoyable time at these renunions.

Last evening was children's day exercises at the Methodist church at Monroe and a large crowd was in attendnoes. A fine program was rendered and those who attended were given a rare treat. A number of people from our city were present.
