Allen for the excellent sermon on Memorial day and to the choir of the church and the organist for the fine music rendered. We also extend our thanks to Judge Erwin for the splendid oration on Decoration Day also to the organist,to the quartette I to the fifers and drummers, to the ZLadies Relief Corps and to all citizens that have assisted ns with donations in money or flowers to fittingly observe the day on which we think of those of our comrads that wore the blue but have depart- ' ed this life. STILL AT WORK I Man Claims lie Was Hired to Kill ( Miss Schafer.—Reward Now $4200. BEDFORD, Ind., June 2-The ' grand jury investigating the murder of Sarah Schafer Jan 21, is said to be in possession of valuable in- 1 formation not heretofore brought out. Suspicion has been directed to a Bedford citizen whois said to have been out the night of the murder with a srranger who was found the same night by the night watchman in the boiler room of the Brooks & Carter stone mill drying his clothing. The same man it is said was the purchaser of the empty whisky flask found in the alley near the shed where the body was found. Miss Eva Love, roommate of Miss Schafer testified before the grand jury today for more than an hour. It was reported here tonight that a letter from an Illinois man stating that he and another man had been employed to kill Miss Schafer, was received by a city official today. The grand jury will close its investiagtion Saturday with the adjournment of the Lawrence county court. Deputy Prosecutor Stephenson, it is said will continue the investigation of the mystery until after the adjournment of the Monroe county circuit court at which time Judge Wilson says he will summon a special grand jury to conisder the evidence secured during this interval. The reward now off are I for the arrest ' and conviction of the murderer was increased today to $4,250 by the subscription of Simpson B. Low and other citizens.
