Coal Qi] Johnny's slanders of a good honest citizen haa no defense from a republican source. That is fruit for them and they help spread the “p’sen.” The laboring men 1 should rally to the support of Hor- ! aoe Porter and resent the slanders that were brought to life. < ■ — ( It was another rousing meeting c at the surveyors office last night, in t which it was clearly planned and c simply awaits execution to elect every democrat on the ticket, and give the republicans ample time to
originate a scheme that will work better. Now let's get warmed up and make it a good one while we W at it, <»• A non-partison majority of four republican councilmen appoint a non-pa.tison board of six republican election inspectors, during a nonpartison campaign in which these four republicans are candidates for democratic votes to usher them back into official life, where they can duplicate the job. Now let's elec* a non-partison council of democrats. It will taste better. ! ! The democrat who is thinking of scratching his ticket should back up and do a little solid thinking and if he can ever find the time when a republican actually voted for a demo- i cratic candidate, he can get a good | sized chromo by making his re- i quests known at this ‘office. When they want to catch democratic votes, they make the promises but ( history fails to record a single instance wherein they delivered the goods.

Twenty nine ties is the only record the four repubican councilmen have to solicit your sulfrage. .Well, they have their non-partison appointments of six repbulican elec tion inspectors. We almost forgot that. Even Ves Peterson is still trying tc run, and according to his personal and private poll, every legal voter in the first ward is tacked on his slate. In 1900 Ves posed and cast a prohibition vote two being the poll of his party. Since then his coworker has moved out and now if Ves. polls the strength of his party it will be the limit. This morality campaign was originated with a view of coloring the shady record of the present marshal, and with the more important view of double crossing the democratic candidates for the city council. The republicans want to gain control, no matter how and the way to nip their little game is for every democrat to vote'er straight. Notice. The annual meeting of stock-
