The Ladies Aid society of the Christian church will meet at the home of Mrs. Arthur Fisher, on North Fourth street, Friday afternoon. The ladies aid society of the Presbyterian church met with Mrs. W. A. Lower, on Fifth street this afternoon and was a financial as well as a social success. Charley Morrison waited until all the returns were in, and slipped down to Decatur and trot that Hamrick ditch contract for $675, all because the lowest bidder failed to furnish bond sufficient to secure the contract. There are 312 rods in the work Willshire Herald. Charles Yobst received a message from Ft. Wayne last evening announcing that a big baby boy had made its appearance at the home of Mr. and Mrs. McCulloch, and that both babe and mother are doing well. Mrs. McCulloch was formerly Miss Flemming of this city. The citizens along Fourth street are now busily engaged tearing up their sidewalk - and moving thm<n out next to the curbing, and this street now puts forth a torn up con I dition, but vi 11 certainly be one of' the finest residence streets in the city when completed.

Chasles B. Vocst returned from Genva last evening, where he attended to a job of plumbing. W. E. Gilpen returned to Hobart this morning. While here he was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Rinear. The Murray house dining room is undergoing a general overhauling and when completed will be a beauty. Mrs. Sawyer and daughter went to Bluffton today. While here they were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. F. True. The Eastern Stars will meet tomorrow evening at 7 o'clock at their lodge room to transact important business. Miss Lizzie Peterson is quite sick with quinsy and has been absent from her duties as teacher for several days. Surveyors were busily engaged yes terday in looking over the land near Steele concerning the new Indianapolis and Toledo railroad. John Peterson one of the oldest set tiers of the county, is very sick at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Schafer, near Pleasant Mills. He was so much worse last evening that relatives were summoned from this city, He is the father of Attorney R, S. Peterson. Wanted A furnished room with or without board. Inquire at this office.
