WANT $27,000 To Repair St. Marys Reservoir Amount Will be Granted by Ohio Legislature Now in Session. COLUMBUS, OHIO, April 14— Representative Fledderjohann and twelve citizens of St. Marys appeared before the finance committee of , the house of representative last night and argued for <27,000 to repair the weakened canal reservoir. % They said it meant the saving of life and property and was due the people of that community. The legislature have already allowed them <IO,OOO and the committee will report favorably to increase that amount to <27.000. William Fronefield returned this morning from a business trip at Toledo. Adams county democrats held a convention last Friday—the first in a hundred and ten years -and nominated a candidate for county treasurerin the person of John Lachot, of Berne. There was a Decatur man and a Pleasant Mills patriot started in the running, but the Berne citizen pulled down the plum on the first ballot, having more votes than Yager and Kirsch combined. The Journal hints that few republicans had business in Decatur that day, and intimates that it was because it was known that Judge R. K. Erwin had been selected to point the “flinger of acorn” at the g o. p. as temporary presiding officer over the bourbons.—Willshire Herald.

County Recorder Cloud is a business caller at Ft. Wayne today. Charles Terrell .made a business trip to Ft. Wayne this morning. Rev. John C. White made a business trip to Ft. Wayne this morning. Elmer Moser, the well known photograher of Decatur, was in town last week taking some views for Archie Hardison. Ho photographed the residence, and took a number of pictures of Archie's registered horses and other jrtook. He made several large views.—Geneva Herald. THE EDITOR Os an agricultural paper will tell the farmer he should breed enly to draft stallions. His advice maybe good, but there is a bare possibility that he may be mistaken. The reader will understand that I have trotting bred stallions and am, of course tooting my own horn. Suppose a farmer breeds a good draft mare to a good draft stallion, he will for the produce, if large and sound at four years of age receive about <2OO. On the other hand, suppose he breeds a well-bred trotting mare to a well-bred trotting stallion that is souud and individ-. ually good, tjie produce, everything i being equal, will at leass sell for as much as the draft horse, and if a handsome road horse. <SOO to <1000; and if a high-class trotter from <SOOO to <25,000. It costs no more to break one than the other. It is a mistaken idea that a farmer, if he breeds to trotting stallions, must have a track on his farm and keep a trainer or do the training dimself. If he has a handsome road horse there will be a dozen buyers for him as soon as he has him broken. If a trotter comes his way he will toll him a hundred times before he is even broken that he is a trotter, | and it will not cost him a cent to i find it out. Great trotters are born trotters. In Grandor 35996, and Major Online by Online 2:04 I have, it is safe to say, two high-class trotting ttallions as are in the state. They are royally bred, good size, very speedy, and will make great sires. Stallion cards, giving breeding, description and service fee can be had for the asking. A. N. Acker, Pleasant Mills, Ind.
