One of the brand new engines on the Clover Leaf was run for the | first time over the road this morning hitched to the 5:25 train. It was a monster. A new little butcher made its appearance at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hazel Andrews of Monroe yesterday. Both mother and babe are doing well. Manager Hively received a letter this morning from the Marion Owls stating that they desired to play in this city this summer and asked for a date here on April 24, which date is on Sunday. This date will in all probability be 'given to this teim which is a strong one and should give "the ball fans here a good run for their money.

Dr. Leßrun made a business trip to Willshire today. George Bailey made a business trip to Kokomo today. flattie Irvy returned to Kokomo today after visiting her son. Ollie Berry returned to her home at Bluffton today after visiting here for a short time with relatives. Mrs. H. L. Confer who has been sick for some time is reported to be recovering nicely,now being able to sit up. Mrs. Norval Blaokburn who fell and injured herself a few days ago is reported as resting comfortably and getting along as well as could be expected under the circustances. Irain N 0.12 on the Grand Rapids was delayed one hour and a half this morning in the yards at Fort Wayne owing to a car jumping the track at the Wabash crossing.
O. Wilkie returned to Kokomo today after visiting here for a few days with his brother. Ben Wagoner arrived this morning from Findlay and will visit here for a short time with his parents. Some of the citizens cn the low lands were forced to take water though the quality like mercy, was not strained. The St. Marys today is fast receding and in a few more days will be confined within its own hanks. This should be encouraging news for people who dwell near the banks of this dirty river. Postmaster Brittson informs us that forty-five applications have been tiled for positions as city free mail carriers. Some one will certainly be disappointed as the government is only going to hire three men.
