A NEW FIRM Acker Sells to Elzey & Vance Invoice Taken and Deal Went Into Effect Today at Noon.
Samuel Acker this morning §old his interest in the clothing store of Acker. Elzey & Vance to the other two members of the firm, Messrs Elzey and Vance taking immediate possession. The boys have been together about a year and have done business. The present change was a prefect ly harmonious and satisfactory one made by Mr. Acker for personal reasons and he has asked us to state that any favor shown the new firm by his friends will be fully appreciated by him. IHe has not fully decided as to future business. Elzey & Vance will continue in the clothing business at the old stand in the Stone block. They will handle a larger stock than ever and expect to increase their patronage of the past year. The store has a record for doing business under business methods, selling good goods at a fair profit to themselves and guaranteeing value received for money spent with . them. March 28— Twelve deported miners who attempted to return to Tenridi under protection of an injunction have been again deported and warned never to return. NEW CHWANG, March, 28— This city is now under martial law I by older of Viceroy Alexander. The order is looked upon as a Russian i challenge to neutral nations, especially China who may resist. The trade is completely tied up by the contraband law. ST. LOL lb, March 28—The jury in the case of Senator Burton re- I turned a verdict at 12:15 today but the judge discovered that the jury i had failed to dispose of the third I count in the indictment and sent the jury back to reconsider. The court believes the verdict will be guilty.
TO TOLEDO Decatur People Call on Mr. Shonts Will Confer With Him Regarding the Proposed Change of Division.
French Quinn, president of the Commercial Club and Attorney C. J. Lutz, J. W. Tyndall and H. R. Moltz of the committee, recently appointed, went to Toledo this morning to confer with President Shonts of the ('lover Leaf company to ascertain all possible facts con cerning the deal now on between that company and this city, for the location of division and shops Here. They will have an audience with the president some time this afternoon and the people of Decatur arnestly hope it will lx, a satisfactory one. The Delphos jiapers still believe it a mistake, and saywe are to have only the through freight division which would mean only the loss of about thirty families to them. However we have tho promise of Mr. Hhonts given to two hundred people that it means much more than that.
