Sprague of Monroe went to Ossian this morning where he will give an entertainment this evening before the Epworth League. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Lake returned to their home at Fort Wayne last evening after visiting here for several days with relatives. A. C. Hower and family of R. R. No. sis moving his goods to Howard City Michigan today’ where he expects to make his future home. Mr. and Mrs. C- E. Will Edmondson went to Indianapolis today to attend a meeting of the Masonic lodge. Emil Bain returned to Portland to day after making a few days visit here with his brother Mrs. Martin Beery who has been sick for five weeks is now reported to be recovering nicely. G. E. Ripley returned to Winchester today after visiting here for a short time with his brother. Mrs. D. C. Townsend is entertaining at cards this afternoon for her friend Mrs. Barnett of Fort Wayne. Miss Fruchte went to Berne today to resume her school work She has been sick for several days with grip. Dr. D. D. Clark returned last evening from Linn Grove where he performed an operation on Miss Baumgartner for appendicitis. Postmaster Brittson informs us that there has been forty one applications made for the position as mail carrier for this city. Attorney R. S. Peterson was down street this morning and expects with a few more such days to again be able to attend to his law business. Grandmother Cramer whoresides on first street is at resent confined to her home and bed and is in a very serious condition. She has had a very severe attack of the grip and with her old age, doubt is seriously entertained whether or not she will recover Adam Cully, of Geneva, has sold a block of oil leases in Jefferson township, Adams county, to A. T. Baldwin of Buffalo, N. Y., for the best price realized from undeveloped territory in several years. The selling price was 11600 in cash and Cully retains |soo interest in the territory.

James Edington went to Berne this morning where he has accepted a fine position as baker. J. L. Daugherty of Chicago an Imigrant agent for the Pacific railroad is in the city today. The C. Y. M. 8. Club are arranging for a big Easter ball to be given Monday evening, April 11 The K. of C. lodge will meet at their hall on Thursday evening on business of importance. All members are requested to be present. Work has begun on the Great Northern fair premium lists which will be out within a short time. They are being printed at this office. Unclaimed letters are at the post office for Mrs. Thomas Alber, Mrs. M D. Campbell, Miss C. G. Snotgrass, Mr. Vimego Ruggrei, Andrew Marsh David Scott, an inmate of the Soldier's home near Marion was murdered last night by being pounded in the face with a club. The affair happened in a negro settlement near the home and the murderer is still at large. Miss J. Pearl Rogers, who gave a ladies minstrel show hero last spring for the, benefit of the Presbyterian chruch will give a similar entertainment at Montpelier on Thursday night of this week for the benefit of the Relief^_Corps.—Bluffton News. Sheriff Rutler received a letter from a num at Winchester enclosing a dollar bill for a prisoner named Charles Drew but it came too late as Drew was discharged yesterday morning and left town immediately. Drew was one of the men taken at the Boknecht school house a week sago. Sheriff Butler owes him a dollar. Stock is being raised for the location of two new factories in Bluffton. One is the factory mentioned in the Nows several days ago us being expected to employ girls while the other it is understood, is the Sonell Automobile Works of Toledo which is to be located in the scale truck factory if the company can lx< formed. It is said that one man has taken stock to the amount of 15,000 in the latter enterprise and that prospects are bright for the location of the factory.—Bluffton News
