AT IT AGAIN. C. M. Kenyon, Decatur Journal:—' The sitaution in the congressional contest in Adams county has changed somewhat in the past few days, 1 think. Among the farmers more opposition to Cromer has been manifested. The fact that the congressman has been absent so long from his duties is having weight with these constituents. The opposition is bitter, and may prove more effective than appears at present by next Tuesday. However. I believe that Cromer will probably carry this county by 200. Although his friends here claim a larger v >te, I do not think Cremer •will muster more than that.—Muncie Star. The nomination by the democrats of Allen and Adams county of Hon. J. W. Tnydall for joint senator will be endorsed heartily by the masses of the party in both counties. Mr. Tyndall is a man of ability, high character and undoubted energy. He will represent the two counties with credit and take care of their interests admirably. Os his election there can, of course, be no doubt, for while the democratic majority in Allen county has shown a disposition to wable a bit lately, it is likely to be reliable in the com-

HIGH PRICED Easter Bonnets Will Cost the Loving Husband This Year. The generous man who has been giving his wife $2 and telling her to go out and buy the best hat in the town will have his eyes opened when the spring time comes and the better half of the family asks i for an appropriation to cover the purchase of new head gear. Indiana milliners are buying a better class of goods than ever this year, ; which means that masculine purse will be touched heavier than before. French patterns are much in demand and French patterns cost anywhere from |lO to S3O. These patterns include a great deal ■ of white, green, gilt and violet. * Violet and lavender are the prevail- I ing colors. Wholesale milliners are | about out of the bes patterns but will have their stock replenished. ■ They were hardly prepared for the I unusual demand of the tine pat-1 terns which has surprised and I pleased them.

LEAVES TOMORROW Tom Railing to Join Dai* las Ball Team His Record Last Year Was a Long List of Fast Plays and Good Twirling. I
“Our Tom Railing"’ the lad who ' is becoming fast famous in base ball circles as a pitcher, leaves tomorrow morning for St. Louis where he joins the Dallas, Texas League team for the coming seaosn. He was joined here today by one, Guy Wesley of Grover Hill, who has also signed to catch for this team this season. So much has been said concerning Tom that we are at a loss to know how to proceed, but can say that if he delivers the goods in the same manner this season as he did last, there will be no doubt of his making good in faster company. For a ball player so young Tom leads them all in his line, being a heady pitcher, a neat batter and a clean fielder and with the build he has he is a tower of strength for his team. Dallas certanily made a wise move in retaining his services for this com ing seas on as Tom had a great deal to do with Dallas winning the penant last season, and he should be much better this year as he now has the experience which he then lacked. It would not surprise us that Tom would be drafted by some other team before the season is long advanced and at one jump into faster company where he belongs. The Democrat joins in with his numerous friends here in wishing him a successful season.
AN ACCIDENT That Came Very Near Proving Serious. Charles Cook and Erastus Fritz- 1 inger had a very serious experience Saturday evening while drivingl home, and the result of which Mr. Fritzinger is nursing a very sore ' leg, where he was kicked by the horse. The accident happened north of the city just across the Grand Rapids tracks. The burr came off the front wheel and al-1 I lowing the front of the buggy' down. This frightened the horse which commenced to kick and the ! result was that one of his hind feet came in contact with Mr. Fritzing I ers leg, bruising it very badly. I Cook was more fortunate and escaped without a scratch. The boys at last succeeded in getting out and soon had the horse under control. The only other damage done than above stated was a few straps on the harness broken and the front axle on the buggy badly bent. The l>oys are unable to account for the accident and sre under the impression that some one had prior meddled with the buggy, and if such should prove the case and the guilty party found he should receive the full benefit of the law. IN THE CITY Dr. Winchester, of Taylor University, Preaches at the M. E. Church. Dr. Winchester occupied the pulpit at the Methodist church where yesterday he preached two very able and schollarly sermons. He is the president of the Taylor University at Upland, a Methodist institution. and one too, that is rapidly ladder of fame. As an institution for classical learning as well as one that preaches and practices the righteousness of a clean and Christian life. The course of study is up to the standard of any college course in the country an 1 its other advantages are fast becoming what they should be. The future of the Taylor University is bright and those conn oeted with it have high hopes.
