HASE BALL LEAGUE' I 5 ®) Decatur Slight Get in on a i Good Thing Tire Imfcono Saw Ml League Now liprfw Organization. A new base ball league is trying to be formed among our neighboring cities and yesterday a meeting was held at Muncie and six cities were there represented namely, Elwood, Andorsi n, Akntpelier, Bluftton, Indianapolis and Muncie. This organization is to go under the name of the Indiana Base League and they are still looking for other cities to join them. It would now certainly he a golden opportunity for this city to be among this number, the expenses would be light ns far as railway fare is concerned, as almost any of the cities cun be i reached by interurban and good base ball material can now be picked up cheap, and with what material there is now in our ’city to draw from. The outside talent, would not h-ivo to Ixt very strong. Decatur is a good base ball town and can hold up her end in attendance with any other city around here, and there is no use denying the fact that if a team were managed right and the proper spirit shown that it would prove a paying investment. The lovers of this kind of sport are demanding some attraction of this kind and it is now up to them to get out and encourage this project along. There is no doubt but that Decatur would readily lx* accepted by the magnates of the birth in th? same. So push the goqd tiling alongFAIR PREMIUMS The Northern Indiana Fair Good to the Public Schools. The Great Northern Indiana Fair Association have concluded to branch out a little further their next fair and will add to their exhibit department a school depart- | nu nt which every scholar in the ! county is eligible to try their ability in trying to land one of the coveted prizes. Although the Association are nut offering any large inducements in this contest snll it is un experiment and they do not feel disposed tojofter any large premiums this year and should same : prove a su with which it undoubtedly will. They exp-et to offer to the schools all over the county much larger premium for the work ami lalx-r at the next fair. The compositions drawing, histories' and p-nnir.anship on which they offer these inducements are not to be_>: any special or particular form except what is set out in the list he-1 low. All schollars should grasp at this new feature and strive to win i one of the )»iemiums offered. All] ; work must b© sent to Irvin Brandy- 1 berry, county Supreintendent not I later than Juno the first, 1901, as nothing will be accepted after that date. All work will be judged by | witnesses. The followng is a list of the thomes that uro to lx* written upon and the drawing to lx? made and the premiums offered by the I j association.
