That’s a politic way of i looking at it. Muncie Star i Rep. Many Allen county democrats have a!r"Wly signified a willingness and pleasure in giving the n initiation for joint senator to Adams county’s can didate, Hon. John W. Tyndall. This ** a it should be. Mr. Tyndall besides being backed by the unanimous democracy of Adams couaty .is a gen tletnanof culture and large business affairs and will make a sound ar ! 1 safe member of the Indiana g< neral assembly. As a sample of the line harmony prevailing among the republican hosts of tl • state it is onl > necessarv t > state that at the recent district conventions .at one place the. police was called in pnsTie order, with the Steele Landis f«l •tions at sw jrds’ points, and in the t.'ith after the most bitU r contest Cun giessman Brick's contingent won by the narrow margin of a single vote. It is quite evident that so far as the republicans of Indiana are concerned, the dove of peace looks very much like a chicken hawk. Mum ie Her ild. CLOSE CALL Ctowr Uli tend 5wU Frw * Fire. Last night about twelve o’clock the Clover Leaf depot came within an ace oi burning up and only for the keen sense of smell of Sam . Shamp we would today probably - be looking at the smouldering remains of the same. The actual cause is not known but the supposi- - tion is that Sam on putting coal in the stove caused rod hot coals to drop on the floor which het did not notice and went back into the oflice land in the meantime the wood commenced to burn and was then noticed by Sam, on account of the crackling of the wood and the smoke. He acted very promptly in the mat ter and dashed a bucket of cold water on the blaze and soon had same out, but it took some timi to free the waiting room of the smoke. Two large holes were burned in the floor and had it not been discovered at the time it was it probably would have gained such a h aid way that ke could not have been cxtln guished.
