But the Smash-Up Might Nave Been Serious, West bound passenger train No. 7on the Chicago & Erie collided with a freight train at Uniondale yesterday. In the accident only one brakeman on the freight train was injured. He was cut about the head and face but his injuries not serious. The freight train had stopped at the tank for water and a flagman had been sent ahead to stop the passenger. He did not go far enough and when he flaged the train the engineer could not get his engine stopped before the crash came. Ihe passenger was slowing, down when the collision occurred or the wreck would have been a great deal. worse. Before seven o'clock wreck crews were there but they were unable to pull th? engines from their strong embrace, so firmly were they locked. The passengers on the west bound train' were only jarred.

BADLY WANTED Ed Wilgus h’as Many , Charges Against Him > Stole Horses and Various Articles ) and Mas been a Bad Bov Generally J ) 1 If Ed Wilgus, now serving two to fourteen years at Michigan City on sentence from Bluffton, knew ; what others know ho would not be 1 very particular whether he is par- ■ doneil or not. City Marchal Steph ens was several monhs ago notified to be on the lookout for Wilgus and if the latter were released from the penitentiary he would more than likely be met at the prison door and arrested on grand larceny and half a dozen other charges. According to a card and description bo now in hands of Marshal Stephens Wilgus is wanted in Kentucky lona charge of stealing a team of I fancy sorrel horses; at Union City Jon charge of stealing a watch and cistern cleaner and beating a board bill. The cistern cleaner was sold by W ilgus to the man from whom he is alleged to have stolen it shortly afterward. During his stay in this part of the country Wilgus was arrested four times by Officer Stophens and it is known that he was constantly in trouble before he came here, besides having previously sreved a penitentiary sentence, | so that it is not at all likely that his record of earlier days will assist ■ him in securing the pardon now so much desired. John Miller on Railroad St. has a team of horses, wagon, set of harness and set of logging tools, good j as new, same can be bought at a ■ bargain if attended to at once. 312*12
