K WISE EFFECT I Decision of Supreme Court Will Ee Felt By Every County of the State. It Is Held That County Clerks Are Entitled to Fees for Attendance in Court. Heretofore These Fees Have Been ! Turned Into the Public Purse. —~ Indianapolis. Doc. 19. —The deci sions of the supreme court in the case of County Clerk Flynn of Lafayette, holding that he is entitl d to the fees collected for attending court, either in person or by deputy, marks the termination of one of the most interesting legal battles that has been fougnt in Indiana in years. There is not a county in the state that will not be affected. In most of the counties the question has been raised. In this county the decision will probably mean the loss of thousands of dollars to the people The former clerks have all turned these fees into the treasury under protest, alleging that they were really their own property. They will now bring suit to collect. The decision will be very far reaching In some counties old officers must refund the collections, but in most instances the counties will have to pay out money to past officers.
