There will be. a meeting of the Adams County Central Committee at Decatur, Saturday, November 28,1903, at 9 o’clock a. m., for the purpose of arranging time for holding the Democratic Primary Election, and to transact such other business that may come before the committee. J. W. McKean, Chairman. . 1 ' - ' | It is said that one hundred and fifty newspapers will be represented at the French Lick meeting next week, when T. Taggart will act as host. If this is true it will be the largest gathering of newspaper workers ever congregated at one time in Indiana. It is expected that three hundred guests will greet Mr. Taggart upon this occasion. The meeting of the democratic county central committee Saturday is being looked ' rward to with considerable interest by local democrats. After this meeting the primary campaign will open in earnest and the candidates will begin their canvas.
A FILL FIELD OF CANDIDATES
inatanapolis, Nov. 25. —1 t is probable that there will be some important announcements made to Democrats over the state within a short time now. looking to the bringing out of candidates for state offees. Just when the statements will come is not definitely known, but it is the understanding here that it will be only a few weeks ' at the longest before the party workers will have an opportunity to know who some of the candidates will bo, 8o far there is not an avowed candidate for any of the nominations on the Democratic ticket, but there is little doubt that the field will be well occupied when the convention time ap-, proaches. The effort is being made now to get the names of prospective candidates before the people so that they may have time In which to select their favorites. The Democratic managers are very anxious that, the ticket made by the next convention shall be an exceptionally strong one. They feel that with the conditions as they are a strong, representative ticket will surely win. It is to make sure of securing such a ticket that they are figuring on getting out candidates now. They want the question thoroughly canvassed and only the very best men put on the ticket. If candidates are brought out in the n?ar future it will give the voters a chance to find out something about them, and when the delegates assemble they will be able to act intelligently toward nominating only strong, clean men. THE STOCK SHOW Street Car Strike Will Not Affect It. Some Information From the Manager for Those Who Want to Attend. To the Editor: Kindly impress the fact upon your readers that the strike on the street car lines in Chicago only effects one of the city’s vast street car systems, the other surface lines and elevated railroads are running an increased number of trains. Should the strike continue any length of time, all of the steam railways entering the city of Chicago have direct connections over their own rails with the Stock Yards, practically entering .the International Live Stock expositions grounds, and arrangements have been perfected to run trains from all the depots in the city direct to the show, sufficient to carry all visitors. A fifteen minute service will be in effect all day until close of the night show on the Stock Y'ard “suburban line” from the Lake Shore Depot in the city, and train service in connection with the South Side elevated from 40th street and Indiana avenue. Practically as of tens the street cars run. The public can be assured that by this arrangement for moving the visitors it will be done with greater ease and better facilities than any street railway would be capable of doing. There is no trouble in the city and everything is quiet, so that visitors need not fear any annoyance from any source whatever. The stock that will be in the show this year is sujierior to anything ever displayed before on either hemisphere. The great expense and amount of labor put by the stockmen of the country into their exhibits should bring every person interesed in the welfare of agriculture in he United States to this exposition. The Boarding House Committee have some five thousand rooms listed of easy access to the exposition grounds, and the immense hotels of the city will maintain their rates so that all will be cared for in a pleasant manner. Amusements. “A Little Outcast,” the largest production sent out this season, comes to the Bosse opera house to night with a dazzling array of scenic splendors and the most up to date electrical appliances. Some of the effects will be revelations to theatre goers, so natural and vividly are they produced. The most elaborate is the great fire scene which is the least triumph in stage mechanism. The scene is the great dock yard fire off the Battery in New York City, with a panoramic view of the World Building and adjacent sky scrapers illuminated with hundreds of incandescent lights. Other views presented are of Cooper Union,Five Points,a brilliant Chinese restaurant in Pell street with its draped alcoves for opium smokers and a fashionable home on Fifth avenue, with glimpses of a tapestried boudoir and a pink marble bath. By special inducements manager Bosse has secured the services of Fred C. LaDelle the magician for Thanksgiving night. Mr. LaDelle is the man everybody talks about, his feats of magic marvel the most learned they are elevating to the mind and pleasing to behold. The Springfield Democrat says of him, “Kellar and Herman may have longer programs than LaDelle but they are not one whit more clever, nor do they use more pleasing accessions.” This is certainly strong endorsement from a city where they get all the leading attractions. Mr. LaDelle has a few days . off and is visiting his family and taking a rest, and being a special friend of the manager of the opera house Mr.Bosse was induced to give his program at the opera house on Thanksgiving night on the condition that the price should be 25 cents that all of his friends could see him, which they undoubtedly will.
