Miss Drummond went to Marion today where she has accepted a position as cshier in a bakery. N.Conyers went to Geneva today. He was here fixing the gas engine belonging to H. H. Bremerkamp. Louis Curdes returned to his home at Fort Wayne last evening, after transacting real estate business in this city. Misses Loretta Fletcher and Daisy Haynes returned to Fort Wayne last evening. They were here giving their regular dancing lessons. "Poodle" Meibers went to Monroe today and he had his dog and gun with him so you can imagine what the finish of the birds and cottontails will be.

Mrs. Humble returned to her home at Fort Wayne last evening, after a few days' visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Breiner. L. H. Ransom returned to Fort Wayne last evening, he is secretary and treasurer of the Fort Wayne Mercantile Accident Association. Miss Grace Smith today tiled a provoke charge before 'Squire Smith against Albert Acker charging him with using obscure language in her presence. The arrest was made this afternoon but up to the present time the trial had not taken place. Both parties are employed at the Burt House.

Schirmeyer went to Van Wert today to visit for a few days with relatives. Edward Peltz arrived from Fort Wayne today and will visit for a few days here with relatives, Mrs. E. A. Fickler and Mrs. D. F. Owens went to Portland today to visit for a few days with relatives. Mrs. Wililam Dohrman and sister went to Berne today to visit for a short time with their sister Miss Neva Ernst. J. J. Piper who has been looking after the horse business here, returned to his home at Columbia City last evening. W. R. Cochran made a business triy to Delphos, Ohio, last evening and incidentally will spend a few days with his family. J. W. Brodbeck and Charles Miller went to Tegarden, Ind., this morning where they will invest in some very fine Shropshire sheep from A. W. Dolph who has over 500 registered sheep. Mr. Brodbeck and John Falk of this city expect to form a partnership and engage actively here in the sheep business. Mrs. Rebecca Brobst arrived from Cattawisas, Penn., this morning and will be the guest of her sister Mrs. Brandyberry. Mrs. Brobst was born and raised in Blue Creek township and her maiden name was Rebecca Kistler, and will be remembered by many Adams county people. She will likely visit here for a month or more. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Merryman royally entertained a number of their relatives and friends at dinner yesterday in honor of Mrs. Mae Lester and daughter Jane of Chicago. Those present enjoyed the repast were Mr. and Mrs. Adam Syphers of Berne, Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Merryman of Steele, Mrs. Mary Merryman and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. John Burkhead and son. and Miss Bessie Venice of this city. A most enjoyable time was had by all present. A man who was a passengecr on the Commercial Traveler last night wanted to stop off al Decatur, hut he went to sleep and was curried through to this city. He awakened here and he gave the crew a good round cursing for not arousing him at Decatur. He wanted the conductor to give him a ticket back to I Decatur but that was refused, and he finally turned in at the Adams ! House and had to wait until this morning licfore going to Decatur. According to their decree a new road one half mile in length will lie established,thus shortening the distance of travel and in all things being a convenience worthy of consideration.
