Mrs. Samuel Douk left this morning for Warsaw, where she expects to visit a few days with her sister. Miss Nonie Forbing left last evening for Fort Wayne where she expects to visit a few days with friends. Mrs William Meyers left this morning for Upland where she will spend a few days with her son Rev. J. Hunter Meyers. Mrs. Zengler left last evening for Veedersburg. Ind., after spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Rollo Calder wood and family. Mrs. Runyan left this morning for Upland to attend the missionary convention being held there this week. Mrs. Brunyan is secretary. Miss Gertrude Rugg and Miss Helen Smith left ' his morning for Larwell where Miss Smith will take a course of treatment for spinal trouble. Mrs. R. K. Allison and Mrs. E. L. * arrol left this morning for a two weeks visit at Mt. Clemens, Mich. I Ley were accompanied as far as Fort Wayne by R. K. Allison. Beatty left last evening for Delphos to attend to some legal business. William Gilbert will open a bran new store at Middlepoint the first i of next week. Hon. J. J. M. Lafollette of Indianapolis, is in the city attending to legal business. Dr. Rinear returned last evening from Monroe where he had been visiting friends. Lillie Steele returned to Fort Wayne this morning after spending a few days with her parents on Monroe street. Levi Gephart who has been visiting with relatives for a few days returned to his home at New Paris, Ohio today. Adam Stahl who has been the guest of Henry Keimer for the past two weeks returned to his home at Kokomo today. Mr. and Mrs. H. Streicher who I have been the guests of their son H. P. Peters arrived from Rochester, Neb., last evening and will | visit for several weeks with his brother Isaac Peters of the citv. Mrs. Marsh Burdge who has been visiting with her daughter at Van Wert who is quite sick returned home th s morning. She reports Maude as much better. The usual prayer meeting of the Methodist church will be held tonight at the usual time. All are invited to be present. After the prayer meeting will follow the official meeting of the church board.

Mr. Huffman left for his home at Bluffton today after spending a few days with relatives here. Halie Moser will arrive this evening from Bluffton and will lx? the guest of Miss Marie Meyers. Mandy Smith left today for Greentown where she expects to visit for a few weeks with rela'ives. Gregory Fassnacht left this morning for Williams where he has a contract on hand for ditching. 8. N. Mygrant who has been at Montpelier attending to insurance business returned home today. Albright Chrisen left today for Craigville where he is employed in helping construct a school house. Mrs. Tony Gross returned to her home at Fort Wayne this morning after spending a few days with her parents. Rev. E. Ely and wife who have been visiting with John McKean returned to their home at Engle wood today. Mrs. William Burdg returned last evening from Elwood where she has been visiting her daughter Mrs. William Bell. Mrs. A.B. Morrison and Miss Hattie Studabaker, of Decatur were here yesterday to attend the funeral of Mrs. James Chaddock—Bluffton News. Mrs. W. L. Brill passed through the city today enroute from Marion to Geneva where she has been visiting prior to taking her leave for Jacksonville, Florida where she will spend the winter. Rev. J. C. White returned last evening from Monroe, whepe he has been attending the Ministerial Lyceum. He reports a successful meeting, and that it will be held at Spencerville next year. The bank of Geneva wtih C. D. Porter as cashier, gives notice to its stock holders that on Tuesday November Bat their bank house, their annual election of officers will occur. Trustee Koldewey is the owner of a pair of full blooded Chinese geese, they being purchased from among the prize winners at th fair. They are beautiful specimens of their brood and Mr. Koldewey expects to increase the number. Miss Dora Fairchild who left for • Midland, Mich., yesterday was the victim of a very pleasant surprise Monday evening by a number of her girl friends. The evening was enjoyed exceedingly bv all. Those present were Louse and Lena Adler. Gertie Kitson. Ada Green. Susie Mayer, Maggie Ceaser, Ina and Emly Wyatt and Dessie Beery of Peter«on. The case of the sate of Indiiana vs Belle Schlegel whose true name is unknown was tried last evening before Squire Smith on the charge of assault and battery upon the per I son of Isaac Zimmerman. The court after hearing all the evidence found her guilty as charged and fined her one dollar and costs, amounting in all to eight dollars and thirty cents, which she paid.

Ina Everett and Myrtle Watts returned last evening from Fort Wayne where they had been spending the day. Girl Beardsley who has been visiting with his parents returned last evening to New York to join his naval company on the battle ship Texas. Mrs. W. H.
