Stafford returned to Indianapolis last evening after sjtending a week with relatives in the city. Mrs. Dr. J. V. Lewis of Alliance. Ohio arrived on the old Settler's excursion and is the guest of her brother P D. Fristoe and other relatives Art Russel who has been working at the barber trade at Youngstown. 0., for the past year is home on a three weeks visit with his parents. John Fonner returned last evening from Pittsburg.. Penn John has been making for the Carnegie Iron Works and states that they have closed down for an indefinite period to repair machinery. John will visit with Adam Smith and familv in the meantime.

Dan Cotchin left for Fort Wayne this morning where he has accepted a position with the Pittsburg railway- as brakeman. The new two thousand light dynamo arrived this morning for the city from Sanduskey, Ohio and will be set up at the water works. W. A. Lower is at Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he may locate in business permanently. Mrs. Lower will leave for that city tomorrowevening. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. McGrew, Rachel and Grace May, and J. 8 Moherman of Youngstown. Ohio, are visiting the family of_Eli Christ and other relatives. G. W. Burns of Akron. Ohio is visiting with his brother M. Burns. Mr. Burns states that there were 653 tickets sold from Akron to Huntington on the Old Settler's excursin.

Allison and wife had a pleasant drive to Berne last evening. Dennis Wertzberger left today for Elwood where he has accepted a fine position. Mr. and Mrs. John Frighty of Marion are the guests of their relatives in the city. Mrs. P.J.Hyland of Youngstown, Ohio., is the guest of her son Pat. Hyland on Fifth street. Mrs. Lee Annen who has been very sick with kidney- trouble is reported as dying today. Nerva Bergman who has been visiting with relatives returned to her home at Portland today. * Miss Bunner retruned to her home at Portland today after a few days visit with her many- friends. J. F. Mrs. Shoesberry who has been visiting here for the past few days returned to her home at Geneva today Mrs. W. Charles Woodward and daughter Bertha who have been the guests of Patrick Kinney and wife returned to Portland. Carrie Nation passed through the city on her way- to Portland where she makes one of her famous temperance speeches today. Mrs. J. W. Rusk and son Herbert of Manseld.O. are the guests of C.E. Suttles and wife, Mrs. Rusk was formerly- Miss Eva Lewis. Mrs. P. J. Hyland while crossing Fourth street Sunday evening had the misfortune to slip and sprain her ankle. She is reported to be getting along tine. Mr. and Mrs. 8. Asire of Chicago are the guests of Judge D. D Heller and family. Mrs Asire and Mrs. Heller and cousins and were very intimate girl friends. This is their first meeting in thirty seven years. Mr. and Mrs. Asire will leave in a few days for Sidney, Australia where they expect to reside in the future with an only daughter. A clover seed threshing was on at Fred Mailand's north of town yesterday, and it was the banner yield of the season. From eleven acres forty bushels was stored away, and one load gave seven bushels and nine pounds. As clover : seed is quotisl in our market reports at $5.15 a bushel it will be seen that some cash was cleaned up yester day. David Summers, livng just north of the Patterson grist mill, is having a run of lough luck. Yesterday he picked his apple crop five bushels of fine winter ones, and he dug his potatoes about the same number of bushels. He left them setting over night on the outside of his house, anil tbi* morning they were nii'sing. Evidently some one reap'd a har vest. The oilices of the Fort Wayne & Springfield Railway company which has lieen Incited at this place since the organization of the company moved to Decatur today and the company’s headquarters will lx* in that city in the future. Work on the line between Decatur and Fort Wayne is now in progress. Miss Carrie Zirkle, the company's stenographer left this city this morning for Decatur and will lie employed in the office at that place. -St. Mary's News. Old papers for sale at this office.
