Frank Studabaker of Bluffton, is authority for stating that the Hereford cattle that will lie shown at the fair ground tomorrow could not hive been excelled at the state fair, there are three herds of these animals at the fair ground and Frank owns one.

Brown returned to Willshire last evening after spending the day at the fair. Mrs. Dempsey returned to Van Buren last evening after visiting here for a few days. Horward Marsh of Bluffton is in our city visiting friends and incident ly taking in the fair. Mrs. Phoebe Corbin who has been very sick for a few days past is reported some better today. Mose Krohn entertained two young ladies from Fort Wayne at dinner at the Burt House lust evening. Frank Shoemaker of Bluffton and owner of Rex R. who is entered in the2:2l pice today is in the city. Jennie Fulton, Martha Tripolett, Alice Mall, and Martha Merryman of Bluffton arrived in our city last evening Josh Perkins of Punkenville is in the city attending the fair. Josh has a display of squashes and will certainly take first prize. Dick Townsend is authority for saying that it is impossible for him to enertain or provide for any more , guests as his house is now crowded. A dunce was given by the Columbian and Aeolian clubs at the Columbian club rooms last evening. About one hundredc couple were in attendance and an enjoyable time was had by all. A challenge was received last evening from the Fort Wayne foot] ball team to play a game either here ' or there on and at that Decatur has one and in all probability same w ill be accepted. Decatur certainly has , an up to date foot ball team this year and some good, games may tie I expected from them Os the 751 convicts in the state prison at Michigan City during 1902, according to the biennial report of the state board of statistics, 434 were members of some church and only 20 had everbeen members of some fraternal organization while of the 919 in the reformatory at Jeffersonville 324 were members of some church and only four hud been members of some fraternal or--1 ganization.

The Portland band arrived this morning and will furnish music al the fair todav. Emma Dicks of Portland arrived this morning ana will be the guest of Russel Haruff today. J. R. Graber left this Jmorning to attend the convention of Charities being held this week. Miss Jennie Weldy and Will Desman of Fort Wayne, are the guests of Miss Welty of this city John Clover. Bill Scheeter, John Kilt and Butch Shelter treturned to Fort Wayne last evening. Max Linn and daughter returned to Bluffton last evening after visiting with friends and relatives here. Mrs. Gart Shober of Fort Wayne, arrived in the city this morning and will be the guest of Burt Lower and wife. Miss Shally and Selma Augsburger returned to their home at Berne this morning, after a visit here with Miss Georgia Miller E. 8. Croxton of Angola was in the city yesterday try ing to induce horsemen to attend the fair to be given there Oct. 7, 8 and 9. Mr. . Croxton is secretary. John S. Peterson, who has been quite sick this week with kidney trouble, is reported slightly worse today His friends hope for a turn for the better during the day. He is here attending the fair Armenia Wiecking, of Bluffton, arrived last evening and will visit the remainder of the week with friends. Charles Ault and family arrived this morning from Fort Wayne, and will lie the guests of Aaron DeVinney and wife. Margaret and Sallie Vesey, of Fort Wayne, passed through the city this morning on their way to school at Glendale, Ind. Miss Hallie Moore, of Bluffton, arrived this evening and will tie the guest of Miss Marie Meyers during the remainder of the fair. Ed Erwin, who has been cooking at an up to-date hotel in Eaton, Ohio, returned home yesterday for a week's visit with his parents Ed says Eaton is a fine place
