It is time for all persons to think seciously ! compound.

It is foolish to take poor health “philosophically” these spring days. There is no reson why anyone should sit hands in lap, ami submit to headaches, poor appetite, continual tired feeling or constipation. If every disheartened invalid will go right at getting well by using Paine’s celery compound, that person will be astonished and delighted with the quickness with which this wonderfull remedy is able to call a halt to wasting diseases, diseases of debility and a “run-

down” condition.

Paine's celery compound does wonders in

making people well.

Here is what a woman, an Jambitious and hard-working member of the legal profession in New York city, says of this great remedy:

The situation tonight is not greatly different from that of a week ago Henry is still a seeming eertainity (or eolleetor, being the favorite of the president and Senator Fairbanks, but Nicholas Filbeck tlands in tlie path of a quick settlement of the vexatious Vigo county coin plication. He insists ou keeping in the fight, and although he is quoted as saying that he was a candidate for collector only, it is broadly intimated that, if he could be assurred of the postolliee he might lie induced to surrender the collectorship to Henry. The powers who have to settle the mutter hesitate to indorse him for that position or to give him his first choice and shift Henry to the post office for fear of arousing bitter antagonism instead of producing

harmony.

George M. Allen, F. K. Benjamin and ( apt. A. C. Ford, who have been making an open and square light for the postottice appointment, have let it be understood that they would regard it as unfair to leave them out merely to placate Mr. Filbeck. has been given altogether too much prominence in this allair, anyhow. The problem is seemingly as full of unpleasant complications as it has been at any time, but there are good reasons for believing that a decision will be reached tomorrow or by the tirst of the week. It be gins to look as though Representative Faris is quite willing to let Senator Fairbanks assume the responsibility of naming both the collector and postmaster, and when this fact is firmly established short work will probably be made of tin* mutter, as the senator understands the situation thoroughly and is quick to form a judgment when given individual responsibility. The Democrat, in trying to get out of its bad predicament of last week on the subject of road making, says that this paper rushed into politics in the matter. All wc have to sa\ is that if there is any one thing in I’utnam that has had a political Havor attached to it it is this same road matter. It is a gigantic political scheme from beginning to end and the people get the worst of it. It is tlie rottennest kind of politics, too. For years the repair of the gravel roads has been placed in the hands of party favorites who have worked mostly to the end of keeping alive a strong democratic majority in their districts. If the road business is improved any it will have to be lifted out of the political mire into which the democratic commissions have cast, it to further their party’s ends. By all means remove the question from politics, but at pres ent one cannot discuss the one without being confronted with the other. Politics is about all the

mg matter. All persons who have the slightest trouble with their kidneys should not fail to call on or write to \V. \V. Jones for a sample of Hobbs Sparagus Kidney Fills this afternoon or evening and give this remedy the test which Dr. Ilohbs in his challenge so trongly invites. Anybody who is troubled with A BACKACHE or Rheumatism, or Neuralgia, which arcall caused by impure blood, arising from weak or disordered Kidneys, should not hesitate a moment to give this discovery a fair

trial.

Ladies especially, who are troubled with a periodical or regular backache will find great relief from such pains by using Dr. Hobbs Sparagus Kidney Pills. Dr. Ilobbs declares that they act like magic on man or woman. Remember the time for this great free distribution ends this evening at 7 o’clock and all persons who call or write today for a sample will be welcome to A FREE SAMPLE BOX of this magical remedy and be given at the same time a little book of Dr. Ilobbs which treats of Kidney disease.. Such an opportunity has rarely if ever been offered to those alllicted with Kidney or bladder trouble and none should miss it. W. W. JON ES, (Irecm-astlc, tnd.

It is time to prepare new improvements for the spring. A few dollars invested in paints and repairs will do much towards improving the looks of home and surroundings. Don’t allow yourself to become a dead letter in the great book of life, but make an effort to advance the interests of the community, The dollar spent in giv-j ing employment to the needy workmen will lie distributed, and like

local workmen points down to

are doing tirst class work. The operation of steaming, bending, sand papering, shaping and finishing it handle liar on a wheel rim is decidedly interesting. A rough piece of timber is sent through the various intricate pieces I of machinery, dry houses, etc., and comes out a finely finished piece of work that delights the bicycle con- | noiseur. The demand for the “rain’s horn" bar made by the local company far exceeds the capacity and every effort is being made to increase the output Another department of great a<tivity is that of screen door mak ing. This work is being pushed rapidly now as the season for the gootls will soon open up. The managers of the factory were at the start criticised to some extent lor building so large a plant, but the developments of the past six months show that they were wise in their plans. The factory can easily accommodate a force of men and machines three or four times the size of t he present one, and at the rate the business is being pushed, that, too, in the face of hard times and other obstac.es, it looks like the plant in another six months would be crowded with

busy people.

Superintendent Browning says he will increase the wonting force as rapidly as hi* can, and with the present force of fifty men the place is certainly the busiest place in Greencastle. An hour spent there in looking over the building, the machinery and different processes will convince the most skeptical that the manufactory is a good thing well located.

On the contrary, Mr. Hamrick will

re-enter.

The lecture of Gen. J. B. Gordon upon the “Last Days of thet onfederacy” will occur upon April R in Meharry hail. As wc have stated before, Gen. Gordon has a worldwide reputation as an orator.
