of this campaign. One of the papers uses a half-column of headlines which begins with “Glorious Victory” and the other used about as much space opening with “Glory Sufficient for One Day.” Neither of these papers gives the populists of the county one grain of credit. They ignore them entirely and brazenly claim the entire vote as a “Democratic Victory.” This leads up to the question of, what has becum; of the Putnam populist party V The populists went into the fight in Putnam county for a principle. They were for free silyer and Wm. •J. Hryan for president. The stiver democrats went oyer to the populists and end arsed their presidential candidate, (after the democrats had nominated a county ticket.) The populists were cajoled, and swallowed the luring bait. They readily fused. The result is the deinoeratic party in Putnam has all the otticcs and the populists have space.
