Halloween was observed Saturday night with the usual amount of devil-
loads of mules which will be sold in the
soul hern markets. (■e<). N. Lowe. I). TV. Matherson and I. Kavenaugh, stock dealers of Sprague, Wash., were at the Commercial yesterday. They are here with five ear loads of Oregon extra tine horses. They report the market dull through this section of the country. A rumor was flying around town this morning that Shentt' Glidewell had made an arrest for alleged violation of ■ the election law. Tlieie was nothing j Whatever in the report. It grew out of a grand jury indictment of a trivial charge alleged against Scott Biowning. The inflamed slate of the public mind this morning led to a rumor which was false in every particular. The Banner Times again urges its republican friends to study well the sample ballot and instructions to voters reprinted elsewhere in this issue. The importance of extraordinary care must he apparent to every one aware of the unusual complications of the blanketballot this year. As we have sai l before, w e repeat, there is absolutely only one safe course to he pursued, viz: Stamp once only within tin- eagle | square—not on the eagle emblem—and j -top then and there, being sure to fold the ballot in accordance with instruc-
tions.
In I'linois there sre thirteen tickets outlie ballot as follows: Democratic, republican, prohibition, people’s party, socialistic labor party, national party, middle-of-the-road party, independent gold stuuda d democracy, all of which have complete presidential and state candidates; independent democratic party, independent silver party, independent republican party and national silver party. In counties where no candidates are for these tickets the same will not appear on the ballot. The ballot is the largest one ever printed iu Illinois. Death came m> Mrs. FLd Akins at 8 o’clock Sunday morning. She had been ill from pneumonia for some time. The funeral servicesoecured this morning at the. resilience on <)*ilo street, and the burial at Walnut < Impel. Those young people who on Saturday night thought it smart to wantonly ruin property, did a wrong act. The | traditions of Halloween do not -how!
