of comments on the Banner Times the past week. That is encouraging. While the Dcinocrut has utterly failed to answer the republican exposure of county’s funds, democrats over the count)' have kept it and the gang busy trying to make explanations. The court house crowd can’t cover up their mismanagement and extravagance.
A f lirt: for Bryan is a vote for more panic: Bryan has admitted it, so has the indianapulis Sentinel. A vote for McKinley is a vote lor a n tiir: ol food times. Snow fell in Nebraska yesterday so heavily that train- are blockaded. That is nothing to the way votes will snow Bryan under next Tuesday in bis own state. The republicans have no cause for regret at the manner in which they are winding up the campaign. They have put up a strong fight and with a continuance until the polls close victory will be ours. McKinley’s portrait goes well with the (lag, because he stepped under its folds as a boyish private soldier and on Tuesday next will be elected Commander-in-chief of the Army and Navy of the United
States.
There is no good reason for scratching a single man on the republican ticket this year. Every man nominated by the county, state and national republican conventions is worthy of your vote. Stamp
In a recent speech Benjamin Harrison said: “1 have lifted mv voice for thirty years in Indiana to the laboring man and the farmer, and I have had just this message, in greenback and flat money times and now, that ill the popple in the world who will be injured by a cheap and fluctuating money the workingman is the man who will be the worst hurt. I raised my voice in protest then, and I do now, having no interest in the woild—it! cannot help or hurt me except as it helps or hurts you and I beg you, as an American citizen, having some experience, to put away the doctrine that a cheap dollar will be
the wind up of a big day’s work. The conditions for public speaking yesterday could uot have been much worse. The air was close and while an outdoor meeting was an impossibility the inside meeting was equally as disagreeable on account of the close air. At the opera house last night a large audience assembled, many of them from the country. The hall was poorly ventilated and the air was nearly insufferably close. A number of people crowded the gallery and some showed their training In not keeping good order. This was mostly done by children and designing democrats who didn’t care if the speaker was disturbed. Gen. Bitkins made a masterly ail dross. He is a typical southerner and speaks slowly but to the point. He lias been here twice before in
campaigns since 1880.

< lawrorclsvlllr A rtf us News. Rev. T. A. Boyer’s lecture last evening at the < 'hristian church was one of the rare treats and was of such a high order of oratory and rhetoric that at many times throughout his lengthy discourse the orator was loudly applauded by the large and attentive audience. His elocutionary powers are wonderful and his lecture had a de-' cided dramatic tinge, which reminds one of Edwin Booth in his presentation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. His wit is keen and his sentences perfectly rounded. His rapid expression in the elucidation of lofty sentiments is accompanied by a dramatic power whit h invites the attention of his hearers. If Mr. Bover ever returns to C’rawfordsviile. he will receive a welcome seldom accorded platform orators. Wanted :—Clean cotton rags. Best market price paid at the Banner Times office. if
