Yesterday the Noblesville Athletic association tested the strength of oar team in a hotly contested game on McKeen field. The day was far from an ideal otic becausi the wind blew a constant gale from a southerly direction, keeping clouds of dust in the air and mak ing runs diflit ult. At 3:00 both teams came on the field. They both made fine appearance but strength and weight seemed to be in favor of the N. A. A. team. At 3 :12 Noblesville kicked off, Ruick catching the hall and making a slight advance down field. Outfellows piayed a snappy game from the start. Several times they lined up and placed tlie ball in action before Noblesville could “get tngether.” In 11 minutes DcPauw pushed the pigskin over Noblesville and Shireman made a touch down ; Ruick kicked goal. Noblesville kicked. DePauw by rapid rushes, and snappy runs soon landed the ball near Noblesville’s goal, but Williamson making a cyclone run, was thrown heavily to the ground and dropped tli" ball which was se cured by Noblesville. Then the scrap commenced. Our team wall urled slowly backward by the heavy pounding of Noblesvillecenter artillery. Near our goal Noblesville lost the slippery pig skin and DePauw was making rapid spurts toward another touch down when time was called.

was done. Several startling rushes jarred up both sides, but the work was principally on the end. When the ball was on Noblesville’s 10 yard line John Owens was severely injured and a substitute put in ae tion. Soon Shireman burst like a tiger through Noblesville’s line and dragging three strong men with him made our second touchdown, i Ruick kicked goal. " Roller again kicked off. Our boys were on thentoes and down field like a Hash and turned Noblesville wrong side out. While making a brilliant run Shireinan was injured and dragged off the field despite his resistance Lallines was also injured. Davis and Beecher took the injured men’s places, and the game went merrily on until with a Commanche Indian yell Williamson made a touchdown. A strong wind was blowing and j : - Ruick failed to Kick goal. Roller ' s 11 again kicked oil and a scrappy, game was fought until time was | called while the ball was in the center of the field.
