The bride, a very handsome and attractive young lady, was attired in a becoming gown of white silk, trimmed with chiffon. Immediately upon the conclusion of the marriage service, which was that of the M. E. church, a sumptuous weeding dinner was served. The presents we c quite mime ous and elegant and inc!tided a $500 check from the bride’s father. Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell will go on Saturday to New Richmond where both w II engage in school work this year, the groom being urineipul of the schools there and the bride in charge of the primary work. A letter has been received from Maynard Daggy saying that he is well pleased with his position. A reception committee of the Y M C A has been appointed to meet all trains Monday and Tues-

He wears a McKinley pin and is enthusiastic over the prospects of a rou-ing republican club in the uni-

Our university spirit was never better and it is to be hoped that college life will not be interrupted by jealousy and fraternity mud

Harry Ward, of Greenfield, Tenn., formerly of DePauw, was here last evening en route to St. Joseph, Mich. From there he will return to college at Harvard. Students should not fail to hear .1 Frank Hanly at the opera house tonight. He is an orator of great strength and understands the polit i ’ul issues of the day. Whitcomb will he here today and with Roller, Whitcomb and Wil Hams, the three mighty men of the west, our success on the gridiron is assured. A thrill of joy ran through the the eiowd of DePauw students yesterday when our great Roller came on the field to seethe boys practice Roller has been the strong right arm of our team for some time, and gi—s the hoys more inspiration than any other man. Mr. Roller will remain at DePauw and his brother will he here next week. These two men will lie a tower of strength tor Hie old gold on the gridiron this season. DePauw will have the best team in her history, Frank Takasugi, who graduated at DePauw university last year, was in Peru Wednesday and wus interested on the silver question. He says that nearly all the business in Japan is done with silver, and while it answers a good purpose in that country where transactions are small he thinks it would be very inconvenient in America. A laborer in Japan gets from tweatvtive to forty cents 11 day in silver, wiiich in our money is worth about half amount. With the high price of labor and the higher price of living in this country he thinks an exclusive use of silver would be
