A piece ot vandalism or carelessness occurred yesterday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock which should not go unpunished if the perpetrator can be caught. A rock weighing about ten ounces struck the large plate glass in the window of the store sending fragments flying around at a lively rate. The stone did not go through the glass but made a bole through and produced several large cracks. The glass cost Mr. Marquis $100 and is of fine inch French make. He probably will be able to save it for a time or trade the uninjured part in on a new one. Xo one saw tbe rock thrown, but it probably came from the mouth of the alley across the street or over one of the buildings. It was thrown with great force. Samuel Lloyd’s residence three miles from Buck ( hapel was struck by lightning Monday afternoon during the storm that saept over that part of the county. The electricity played around the house at a lively rate, but set nothing on tire. Mr. Lloyd and one of the children were shocked. The Woman's Home Missionary society will meet Wednesday, June I7th, at 2:30 in the parlor of College Avenue church. A program is prepared upon some portion of Home Missionary work, and a good attendance is desired. Dr. F. A. Beamoulh, colored, of Indianapolis, who attended Mr. Miles, returned to Indianapolis this afternoon. Dr. H A. Tucker, pastor of tl.e Centenary church of Terre Haute, attended the convention here today. Mrs. Alice Lizby and children, of Coatesville. are visiting Mrs. Bunten, on north College Avenue. Mrs. Thomas Bayne is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Olive Jakes, of West Lebanon. Prof, and Mrs. Moos have gone to New Philadelphia, Ohio, to spend the summer. Dr. E. Hawkins has returned from Clay county where he has been on business. Mrs. Balding, of Milwaukee, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Lieut. Lewis. Alvaii Brock way and Geo. Hathaway are attending court in Brazil today. U. C. Stover, general solicitor for the | C. & S. E., was in the city today. Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Williamson went to Indianapolis this afternoon. Henry Oliver shipped a car of hogs to Indianapolis this morning. Miss Smith, of Brazil, is visiting her grandfather, John Ireland. John Gilmore has gone to East St. Louis to visit his brothers. E. Marquis, jr., is taking chemistry iu the summer school. Mrs. T. J. Bassett leaves this evening for Mt. Vernon, la. Otho Tibbs, of Marshall, 111., is visiting Dan Besser. J. L. Fatout, of Indianapolis, was in town today. F. M. Welch went to Bainbrldge at noon. C. C. Hurst is in Crawfordsville.

ELEVEN TO SIX The Brazil Lads Bite the Mud of McKeen Field. The Brazil Auctions got action yesterday in a remarkably well played game of base hall at .McKeen lield. The home hoys were too much for them and outplayed them, though the odds were in favor of the visitors at the start. The Greencastle Hubs plays a clean fielding game especially in the out field. In one inning the side was retired on outfield hits, the first out going to right, the second to center and the third to left. There were a number of woozy errors on each side and most of the runs were made on the play us the clean hitting was shy. In the first two in uings Brazil piled up five runs and this was a good lead as the total score shows, hut the home team took a Garrison spurt and in the fourth piled up three themselves. Brazil was able to score but once after the second, but Greencastle added steadily to its total sheet. The game was sharp and quick oc cupying hut one hour and forty minutes. The Greencastle team was made up as follows: Zink, catcher; Ja obt, pitcher; Conklin 1; Callahan, 2d; Cox, s; Cannon 3d; .Mize, left; Ader, center; Higtrt, right.
