Indeed, it is a comfort to live in Green castle under republican rule. No one seriously wants a change. A few democratic ringsters are seeking to draw interest away from the county campaign by howling for “reform” in Grecncastle. What they mean by reform is a question that is both'ring the voter of intelligence. Do they want to go back to dark streets, no fire protection, poor police protection and muddy roadways? Do they want democratic gravel in Green castle? What kind of reform can they boast? They never reformed any salaries in Putnam county, but drew every cent they could until a state law made tham desist, and then they desisted after making u fight against the law. One of their number is now cr3’ing “reform." The whole question is the gau/.iest piece of buncombe ever set betorc an intelligent public. Voters have a full week to look into this matter.
Weigh it carefully.

There was quite a respectable crowd witnessed the Wabash-De-1’auw base ball game at Greencastle Saturday and a very shaggy performance it was. Wabash won hut the supporters didn’t run out on the diamond to crown the victors with laurel wreaths. Outside the battery work Wabash put up a poor game and it was only due to the fact that DePauw put up a worse that Wabash won. The Wabash players had to face a very excellent pitcher and batted in rather poor form as a consequence. This however was no excuse for poor fielding and rank coaching. A number of

Democrats believe in partiality . republicans in fairness. Democrats chose five out of eight county candidates for office from Greencastl© and the other three from two townships. Eleven townships have no representation whatever upon their county ticket. The republicans divided as fairly as possible. Eight townships are represented by eight candidates. The offices are dis tributed and Greencastle gets but one-all she is entitled to. Voter think of this between now and November!

Engraving the ttotto. Very few inscriptions uro avaii&lite for engraving op weddingrim-s, lockets, brneelets, etc., writes Mrs. Gairctt Webster in The Ladies' Home Journal, as the space for engi uving is so limited. For this reason tho Hebrew word “Mizpab, ” with its small form and exquisite sentiment, is, and has always been, a great favorite between lovers. “Love inspires love,’’“Love today while wo may,” “God saw tins- most fit for me, “Love and trust,” “No heart more true than mine to you.” “I um thine, thou arl mine,” and its well known French, German and L.din forms tin' all great favorites. A charming fashion is the usage of two rings, in each ono of which half the phrase is engraved, the two when read together giving the complete quotation. The last quoted sentiment is the favorite for this purpose. Latin and French phrases are frequently used in this connection because of their brevity. “Prendre moi tel que je suis, ” "Tak' me just as I am;” “Tuam tuebor,” “I will defend thee;” “Semper fidelis,” “Always faithful;” “Une je Kervirni,” "One I will serve”—are a few of the most used phrases, with their translations.
