The lecture this afternoon in College Avenue church is for women only. State Geologist Blatehley lias dis>ipated all fears of the superstitious, who looked for war. famine and failure of crops, because of the appearance of grasshoppers during the month of Jan nary. Their presence was nothing unusual. Out of forty-three species of grasshoppers in Indiana, forty of them are ir the egg until fall and do not hatch until April. Three kinds, however, hatch in autumn and after shedding their skins three or four times. I the young live over winter, hiding under lugs, dead weeds, etc., where they are frozen solid, like many other insects, but still retain vitality. Every sunshiny day tempts them forth and it L a very common sight to see them jumping about vigorously in the open

woods.
