What, if Not Miracles?
Four-C Remedy i* doing work wherever introduced as nearly mir- > aa it ever falls io the lot of any human agency to do (we will esA'eui it a favor for any one interested to write the persons whose names appear below or any one whose name may appear among these testimonials.) There is actually more FORCE and “GET TH EKE*’ properties in a bottle ©f Four-C than in a gallon of ordinary cniigh medicine. “In compounding it 1 have followed in no ‘•ruts'’ or used the prescription of no Dr . So-and-So of Amsterdam or l.oudon, or any other pl«ce. 1 owe its composition to no okk in no single particular. Neither is it made of herbs and roots dug in the dark of the moon in the jingles of Africa or South America.” The demand for the Cocoh, Cot.n and Croup Ct'RK, and its wondkrfi’i. arccitss has been ki.kctrical. Nothing in the whole history of cough and cold medicines can compare with it. No disease of the lungs seems able to resist its curative properties, as is well proven by the numerous cases of La Grippe Cured, Croup Cured. Tonsilitis Cured, Pneumonia Ciired, Bronchitis Cured, Consumptives greatest help if not cure. Dry, Hacking, Harsh Coughs of weeks’ and months’ standing cured with from one to three doses. Our aim is to convince the i>uhltc of my sincerity and of the true merits of this remedy.

I tried every known rough preparation from cough drops up and down with no relief, then in desperation 1 was induced to try Phelps’ Pour ‘‘C." The first dose relieved my cough, giving mo the first night’s rest for weeVs. Half the bottle cured me. I have never been without this wonder ful remedy since. Yesterday afternoon at the bean tiful home of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Beckett at 1002 south College avenue the members of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority entertained their lady friends from two until five o’clock in the most elegant manner. About two hundred and fifty invitations had been issued and nearly as many persons were present. The spacious parlors ol the Beckett home were most artis ttcally decorated with ferns und cut flowers. The afternoon was beautiful and everything conspired to make the occasion a most delightful one. Conversation, vocal and instrumental music with numerous varieties of elegant refreshments, constituted the chief modes of entertainment and enjoyment. In the evening from eight until twelve the young ladies entertained their gentlemen friends in a manner that was most delightful. The parlors were lighted and decorated in such a manner as to blend in perfect harmony. Kweet strains of music, converration, and occasional peals of laughter mingled in a chorus of euphonoue beauty. Late in the evening the guests were invited to the dining room where most delicious refreshments were served. As a whole the reception and informal evening meeting eompriied lone of the most brilliant social ! events of the season und the mem- ! bers of the sorori’y fully main-

Kissing. It is thoughtlessly said that man kissoa woman, hut it is not so. It may be 84H down us a principle or dogma that it is always the woman who kisses the man. On snch occasions man acts only in a responsive and not in an initiative capacity. To produce a kiss only two things are I necessary, and man, except by his mere ' presence, has nothiug to do with its origin. The first circumstance is the opportunity, and the second is the desire existing, though unexpected, in the woman's own mind to be kissed. When these conditions are present, there is sure to be some kissing, fur the woman will, in a dozen ways that cannot be defined, convey the idea to the man, and ho, if he bo not altogether a stick, will respond to her will. Therefore in all cases of true kissing, it is the woman who kisses, and not the man, who simply responds to u power and influence that he cannot resist. That power lies in a woman, and if it is not present there will not bo any kissing.— Pearson’s Weekly.
