What was known to a few peo nle became public talk last night about seven o’clock and in a few moments the city was wild with excitement over the latest clew in the Ft. Thomas mystery. Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Bryan had their fears for several days that the body of the dead woman was that of their daughter, Miss Pearl Bryan, and a combination of evidence was woyen that left them but little hope that it might all be a mistake. Miss Bryan left this city it is thought on Tuesday, January 28. She gave the information that she was going to visit the lamily of Mrs. Lou Fisher, in Indianapolis, but a telegram from there on Tuesday night stated that she had not been there. This added to the fears of the family. The detectives who were working on the case, dropped the Kesterson clew at noon Tuesday, but

Jackson was arrested and taken to the mayor’s oflice where he was submitted to a regid examination for some time. He denied his guilt but said he knew Miss Bryan. Jackson’s roommate said Jackson was in his room at eleven o’clock
on last Friday night.
The Journal says: “The worst part, of Jackson’s story—the weakest part of it—is that about ills conduct on last Saturday. He boarded at No. 222 West N'intii i street, next to Robinson’s opera) house. On Saturday he took a valise and left it in Lengler’s sa- I loot;, opposite his boarding house.' This valise he carried all over the! city that day aud evening. The theory is that the head of the murdered girl was probably in that va Use, ami . he was traveling about with it to destroy it without being discovered. The accounting for| this valise and why he carried it all day aud night (Mizzled him more than anything else. In fact, he prevaricated and afterward acknowledged that be bad lied. Meanwhile he is committed without hail aud will spend the night in jail.
