It is now said that the Chicago paper, will cease giving chromos and other pictures with their Sunday editions after Feb. 1. The}' have spent immense sums in this direction and for some time have been anxious to stop this expense, tut each publisher was afraid of the other. They have now come to an agreement whereby pictures and book schemes are to be abandoned by all.' It vrili be bad for litho graphers, who have been reaping a rich harvest, but publishers and readers will be the gainers.
A Fated Fniniljr. Kokomo Tribune. The deatn of Engineer E. A. Branson, mentioned in a recent issue of the Tribune, is the end of as sad a story as life produces. He was an engineer on the L. E. A- W road for a number of years. Thursday he died at Tipton from the effects ot an overdose of morphine, which he took while running his engine. He was married several years ago to Miss Jennie Wright, of Muncie, and the wedding was a social event ot the season. Since her marriage her father, a wealthy citizen, died of a cancer, her three sisters and a brother have died of consumption, and another brother is in Colorado with consumption. One of her children has died, and now she mourns the loss of hsr

This morning in the circuit court an important decision was rendered by Judge McGregor, touching on liability of townships on the high school question. A few days ago the case of F. G. Thorton vs. the school hoard of Knightsville was tiled. The plain tiff stated that the board of that place had refused to authorize the advance studies taught in schools there, and that it cost $1.50 per month to send his son to school in Brazil.
